Okay, so I read on some website about feeding trapped, dead yellow jackets to chickens for a protein source ---??

Has anyone tried this? Would the chicken get stung? Would they even eat them?

I have plenty of yellow jackets around here and they're super easy to trap...... would be nice to have some free treats!

Ok how does one trap yellow jackets without getting stung?????

We killed 2 nests where we put our coop. These were in ground nests and we have one above ground we still need to deal with yet. So i really would like to know how to trap these things instead of burning them out.

Wasp and Yellow JAcket traps ... I wanted to try this last earlier this year and never got around to it .. Let me know if they eat em..

I was planning to use the water traps you can get at walmart ./. The wasps and bees go in and cant get out resulting in them falling into the water and drowning ... Take whole trap everyday and dump out in to run for chicken consumption.., I have watched my hens eat live wasps and bees but not tried the dead yet will have to see

That is absolutely not true. kill one, place it stinger side up, then step on it with bare feet, it will sting you.

Our chickens gobble them up as fast as I shovel them out.

We use the yellow, yellow-jacket traps that have bait in them--only we just put meat in as that works better for us than bait. Early in the morning the bees are either dead or "sleeping" and I just dump them out of the trap and hang the trap back up. I have never been stung. I don't know what the chickens do with the stingers--I guess they just don't bother them. At any rate, this is the second summer that I have fed them to my girls and no bad effects that I can see.

It sounds like you are catching bees with yellow jackets. Is this right? If so I will not use traps here. We have to many honey bees producers in our area and our native honey bee is getting endangered.
