Mine are 20 weeks old and I may have a while to wait after doing a search on when they start to lay but curious as to when other bantam cochins began

My cochins gave me their first egg at 4 1/2 months. and they keep coming. now have 35 in that
are running around.
and I have never had to trim their fuzzy butts.
as some one on here suggested for good fetilization.

My bantams started laying at about 15 weeks old. I don't know if you have seen a bantam egg yet but they are small. I would say you will need about 3 eggs to equal one egg.

Also they started laying without the laying feed. I think it was because they are allowed to roam free during the day.

Thank you all for your comments

Yes, I do have other bantams (D'uccles) and their eggs are very tiny as well. I don't put them on layer until they actually lay...read several places on here saying it's not good to do that. From the sounds of it mine should start laying soon then

Thanks again for the info.

What was the consensus for when bantam cochins start to lay? Mine is 13 weeks old with bright red comb and wattles, and she squats when I put my hand over her back. I wasn't expecting eggs anytime soon because I've heard that cochins take a long time, but she appears to be ready to lay. Is it possible for her to begin laying this early? Or do these signs happen months before they lay? What are your experiences? Sorry about all of the questions, I'm fairly new to chicken keeping and google hasn't been to helpful for these questions. :)
