Mille Cochin Info

I’ve just read the whole thing too. I learned so much! As far as I know, this is still not breeding true anywhere. I wonder if perhaps Porcelain breeds true either? I would guess not. Neither are accepted varieties. Seems most really good breeders (near the end of the thread) have stopped breeding these chickens. I’ve hunted down Amy & Lynne on Facebook (neither come in here anymore I think) and Amy has stopped breeding them, while Lynne is not seen anywhere. She made a post in 2019, but that’s it. It’s a shame because her birds are the closest to correct MFs I’ve EVER seen anywhere. I wonder if she is still breeding them either. If there is a new MFC thread, can anyone perhaps link to it? I’m debating whether I should start one or not, but it doesn’t seem anyone truly breeds anymore. :hmm Pic of Lynne’s bird that I am referring to (I would quote, but that will be hard to find). I'd be keen for a new thread. There s definitely people in Australia working on them. I finally have a quad to start breeding with (Have attached some poor pics from my muddy pen, sorry it's been raining here) but still lots of work to do. They must eventually breed true as the duccles have a Millifluer so it has to be possible. Just lots of hard work!

That quad is beautiful! I’m trying to work up numbers with my pair (my hen doesn’t lay many eggs, have one chick from her now). I have many issues with type, but I’m just getting started (3rd generation). F1 was mainly just increasing numbers before they all died off. I was left with one hen and 3 roosters for F2, and chose the best typed rooster, who happened to be the best colored (see my article on Cochin Bantams for pics of them all). A new thread would be amazing to see. Everyone should introduce themselves and talk about where their lines started from and what they did to improve it (add in mottled, selective or line breeding, and so on). Here’s a pic of my best rooster vs a SQ rooster from Cochinsint (comb and wings are meh and he’s not perfect but pay attention to body shape). You can see I’ve got a lot to improve upon (he is 10 months in the photo). The hen looks pretty bad, but hoping to get good offspring from her and Cashew. She lays soft shelled eggs and I just can’t fix it (in the process of trying). Enough with my rambling, hope to see a new thread start up soon (with someone more experienced than me).
