Mille Cochin Info - Page 408

Thought to share some MFC babies hatching this year.  The one to the far left is the chick color I strive for.  But then the dark ones like the 3 at right crop up.  The dark ones develop good mottling later, just comes in as they grow older.  The large light colored one was a surprise---a blue mille!!

Hey ya'll! Loving all the beautiful MFs!

Took a few spring photos yesterday myself.

Most everyone remembers Xavier. This is my old fella with one of his new girls I have been hatching from lately. Not much but a few eggs along.

And this little fella below is KK. He has his ladies in a nice grassy pen where they frolic and think nothing of laying me any eggs. I told them it is spring and they need to get busy. Winter break is over already!

Beautiful Birds everyone.

Shy,

Many of my chicks hatchout very light, including some with white down. I wish i had more dark chicks. The lights usually end up being Calicos, very pretty birds but I want Millies.

Shy,

Did any of these come from your new guy? Love, Love, love.gif the little chick on the left. You're right, the ones that are born dark always have the best mottling.

I have my first MFs from my trio!  Two are black (should show red in hackles and some mottling later on) and one is buff Columbian colored.  I put a dark MF roo over my calicos hoping for more breast flowers.  If these are girls, I still have Milton, my more red mottled boy with little to no flowers at all.

I have one from Fred pipped, Amy!  I need to check my broody, but she didn't have anything hiding under her yesterday.

Love your avatar photo! My kitchen table usually has a bowl of pretty eggs for looks. Eggs are so pretty in a bowl on the table and then I eat them! LOL

Glad to hear one from Fred is hatching! My birds from his pen have been so helpful in my breeding program. Though I really need to switch roos and hens around. I just haven't had time. Everyone wants to go broody and this is a good way to break them for now.
