There nothing more that I enjoy, than my Marans.....but then at the same time Jess pushes me to my limits and there are some days I think he would look good picked to the bone. Especially when he doesn't know how to appreciate the hand that feeds him but tries to take it off.
Let me add......The deserved compliment are your birds to the Marans breed.
Evidently the judges thought the pullets and cockerels were fine, the hens were okay, and the roosters needed work. We have been invited to organize another qualifying show. The APA president himself, at the APA banquet, stated that he expects Marans to be approved at that second qualifying show. So -- we're not quite there, but we're still making progress!
Not sure why you thinks it's complicated? If I understand this correctly the BC Marans were expected to be accepted at this meet right? It just so happened that the APA changed some rules and made it to where you need to have two meets that have the required amount of quality birds to be accepted. So in your opinion if the rules had not been changed what would the result have been?
I hope everything can come together by the next meet.

Yeah, I was a bit bummed too. And it is really annoying how the APA keeps changing the rules. Now, amongst other things, they're saying that new breeds will be required to show **200** birds in a certain period of time before they can be recognized.....
