Look who sat still just long enough for a photo! This is the suspected male from the 6 ISA brown "pullets only bin" at TSC. Being friendly is good. Bad note, the smallest RIR chick was DOA when I went up for the 7pm food/water/butt checks. I had a feeling it was going to happen, just no energy and was abnormally small (compared to the other RIRS I got). 1 loss out of 16 is pretty good for a first timer, I suppose. Everyone else is doing very well - running about, perching on various toys, sleeping on toys - so I'm going to be optimistic. 😊
I thought the fluffy yellow chick in that bin was so cute last year, I took HIM home too (without realizing it was a him). Sadly 'Nugget' turned aggressive last fall at about 7 months old, he started by attacking the kids smallest to largest. Up until then he was a very nice rooster, we handled him frequently, he was the favorite. He attacked me when I went into the run to feed them a few weeks ago. He is headed to a good home, in a friends stew pot, next week.
