My blue wheaten Ameraucana and BCM hatch didn't do very well. I have one BWA that has spraddle leg and one BCM zipped and stayed in the egg for over 24 hours with its beak sticking out of the shell. When I came home from work and saw it was still in the egg I pulled it out. The poor thing just lays on its side. I have hand fed and hand watered it. Now its bending its neck like it has crooked neck. I am heading to Auburn in an hour to pick up the kids from school and will stop by Tractor Supply and get some vit/electrolyte. Maybe that will help. I have it in a pantyhose sling like on this thread: http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/655937/please-help-young-chick-cant-stand-or-walk-without-help . I'm worried because I work Fri, Sat and Sunday. I'm not sure if that is too cruel to leave it for 11 hours or I should just put it down.
Sorry about your hatch. I have been in the same boat. I had to cull a chick with a leg problem too.
On a better note, I'm finally having a better hatch. So far 3 Swedish flower hatched. The one that pipped at the wrong end I finally helped out a bit, but it finished on its own. Another one hatched but was so sticky I had to rinse it under water. The other just hatched and is ok so far. 3 more are pipped and only one did nothing. The rest of the eggs in the bator are not due to hatch until tomorrow.
