Good luck to your chicklets!!! I always try to plan hatches when I'll be home but hey sometimes life interferes. They will do great!  Hatching is TOO much fun.

Yes mam!!!!!    I have no idea why I ever stayed in this state.  I just have to many things to do out there.  Cold just holds me back.  I never get settled for  a quiet winter.  Not that I don't have indoor projects too.

My thing is to leave them in there til the third day and HAVE to be moved to the brooder. Gives me time for not opening the incu before I absolutely have to.  Last hatch I had a chick hatch early by a few days can you believe that?   By day three I had more left and they went another day or two.  21 days my foot!   I never even got to take them out of the turner.

I'm coming up on lock down and hoping no one decides to surprise me again.  I do mark the calender each time but Lord have mercy these guys do what they want.  Chicks can be rude I tell ya.  Not saying "ready or not here I come", like we used to do for hide and seek.

vndan - hope all goes well or has gone well.

Of course they're all girls!  *invents the Pullet Shuffle on the spot, which will serve as a rain dance for female chicks*

Thank you all for your well wishes!

Tab and Travis, I brought up pictures of my buckeye chicks(pea comb)  and compared them to the new hatchlings.  Both are very small and I can't tell a difference!  Will keep you posted as to changes.  Good news is the blue egg marked BXS is a Blue grey bird!  Some birds gave black spots on their heads....could these also be sex links?  The one OE is a black chick.  Don't know if any of this info means anything to you, but am happy to give in as great a detAIL as you can stand!  looks like 4 or 5 more will hatch before we go to bed(around 10)  YAY!!!

Rancher, do you feed then in the incubator too?  Doesn't it get messy in there?

Have a great holidAY ALL!

the new chicks survive off of the absorbed yolk for the 3 days.

I'm always shocked how people take something typed on a forum so personally :) If I say it here I have done it. No Bull poop from me. I'm not arguing, I'm stating what I see in MY flock of 10 years.I'm NOT P.C. If that offends please just block me :)

I knew that they continued to absorb yolk, but I thought it was only a day or so.  Good to know!

Anyone plant their gardens in raised beds?  I think I am going to try them this year, our soil is so rocky I never get any root crops.  Does anyone know where I can find a planting diagram of what to plant next to what to maximize space and minimize weeding?
