Ginny--sorry to hear you are under the weather. I hope it goes away soon. I suffer from them as well but I have to use migraine killers to get rid of mine.
Nice to see everyones babies are hatching out successfully! I cant wait till ours come. I will hopefully be hatching silkies next month if I can find what I am looking for. As for my own little flock, I am holding off till I find other eggs and will hatch some of mine with them to check fertility.
Got 5 eggs from 8 hens yesterday! Not bad considering they are just back to laying again after 2 months off. Bunch of stalkers act like I never feed them or something. Of course, with this warm weather they want out of their pen to freerange. I feel bad because I have to work in the pm so I am not chasing 8 hens all over my yard to get them back into their run before I have to work. I did that once...it did not go well...we were all breathing hard. Not a weighloss program I want to follow...know what I mean???
The deer are eating all the buds off the big pile of branches from the downed oak tree. Now if I could just get them to stack up the rest of the wood, that would be great. You never really know how big a tree is until its on the ground. This was definately a 'holy crap!" size tree. Now we can build our woods style coop without fear of it falling.
Have a good day everyone. I'm off to get screamed at by everyone about the copays their insurances are now charging and the noncoverage of drugs that used to be covered. I love my job!!!
I'm only quoting so I can remember what I want to respond to.
I don't do first names here, since we all chose "user names" for what ever reason but Ginny I do hope you feel better soon. DD gets them and Lord have mercy even though she's an adult I just want to hold her till it goes away. Being a parent sucks when one of your kids is in trouble and you are helpless. Anyhow, close the drapes and lay down.
The white and red bird is a Swedish Flower Hen, the other of course is Mr. Crooked toes and is not. Notice the rosecomb and pea comb.
Now I'm getting pips and peeps a day early. Two but the strongest so far from a CR egg. Of course you can never tell anything til they hatch. I've had some that seem to take forever and do nothing and then the next thing you know they're out. Temp is 99.3 for some darn reason and humidity is 63% . It's been running 99.8 or above for most of this hatch. It has done this before so I won't worry to much.
Got 7 eggs, from my Dels yesterday. So things are picking up. Now that I think of it perhaps it's because Buckwheat is back. She's my barred Frizzle hen. Chickens are funny you know. Or it could be the Dumor feed they are on now. Or it could be the day light. Or it could be the feeder in the coop easing the stress. How knows? Now if they'd just fatten up some. They look like hell. I can say hell here can't I ?
Anyhow they're all blue kote and dirty looking. I think I should just have a big pile of sand delivered and keep filling the sand box in the coop.
I've only seen two deer here in five years. Not sure why but it may be there is and easier way to pass through the area. Saw some turkeys once. Saw some yesterday near a house on the way home and have seen them there before. I think the people at the place are feeding them. Which is what I would do, not that I should.
Anyhow I have a few trees that need to some down. One near my hoop coop. But I have no saw and no one to take them down. Easy 50 footers. I've had a some fall since we moved in. Got a friend to cut them up but he had a heart attack. He's younger than I am! Not over weight or anything. He's still kickin but not so high.
Well I'll check in later, have granny squares to do.
