I called DD over and showed her the pics, "OH my gosh, they are so awesome!"  Yes, we are in.  Now, where would you like to meet to get these sweet babies?  They are awfully cute, ask Cass....

I'm always shocked how people take something typed on a forum so personally :) If I say it here I have done it. No Bull poop from me. I'm not arguing, I'm stating what I see in MY flock of 10 years.I'm NOT P.C. If that offends please just block me :)

Stony - PM me if you really want them.

I have more eggs in the bator, put in on 2/24 and just candled.  I am hoping to have MORE Porcelain D'Uccles and a few BBS Orps available.  In there are also a new bloodline of Australorps (LOVE those huge eggs) and a couple Americaunas.  These are due to hatch on 3/16.

Folks, it's time to start planning gathering in or around the Albany area.    I think everyone had fun at the gathering at Annie's last year.  Who wants to host this year and in what month?

I would gladly host, however I have NO PARKING at my house due to some genius locating the septic tank at the end of the driveway keeping all traffic from accessing the lawn beyond.  (Friggin' genius to be sure)

However, in lieu of hosting, I will gladly help with any planning, coordination and record keeping the host/hostess needs help with.  (I ran the Chinese auction last year which garnered $110 for the host family and relieved Annie of having to be two places at once)

Personally I prefer Sunday, cuz I work Saturday morning....but I probably could take Saturday off (since I have only done that once in a full year), esp if it is planned far in advance so I can give the family I work for notice to get a replacement for me that day.

Let's hear it folks.  Who wants to host?  Who wants to organize the food?  Do we want to do a Chinese Auction again?  (I still have the tickets btw)

Last year we didn't have a Porta potty....wasn't really necessary with about 25 in attendance and one of them was in diapers.   If the numbers are going to tax the hosts water/septic system we can take up a separate collection for the porta potty.  Annie found prices of about $110 for the weekend.

I think that Annie found out that she didn't need to make as much food as she did.  (But she didn't have to cook for the family for a week cuz of the leftovers)   The Host family/person shouldn't have many more expenses than the ones attending.   Everyone brings some food to share, their own chair (when possible) and something for the auction (if they can...it doesn't have to be chicken related).   IF we are there enough hours to warrent it we might want everyone to bring their own lunch sandwich and chips or munchie to share.   Usually enough food isn't a problem, but drinks/beverages can be.  (So can ice/coolers...I'll work on that)

So who wants to host?   The sooner we plan the date the sooner we all can start hatching chicks and/or collecting eggs to swap, add to the auction or take pre-orders to be delivered that day.

Hurricaine Irene put a bit of a damper on the party too I think.  Many weren't able to attend because of storm prep work at their homes and then I was so worried about the 2 - 10 x 20 tents blowing away and everyone was kind enough to help put everything away.  The party was great fun and really I made way too much food.  I will make alot of Goulash for whomever hosts this years though.  I actually like the idea of bring your own main item and aa side dish/dessert to pass.  Great idea.  If anyone has any questions about "partying chicken style" PM me or Cass. big_smile.png

I was just checking the "chickenstock" area of the forum and thought I would share this with y'all.   (since some of you are closer to MA than ALB big_smile.png  )   I was looking to see what dates were already taken so we don't have to try to be two places on the same day.   (which means May 19th is out )

Wait - so the dog just picked one off and....ate it?  lol.png

Heni - my friends dog LOVES eggs.  They cannot be left out.  He will eat way too many and have to stay outside for the day.  sickbyc.gif

Close-To-MA here.  I was born and raised over the border in Pittsfield, and I can say without hesitation that, even were I living there now, I wouldn't drive to Townsend - that's a long haul (100+ miles).  tongue.png  Well, I might for a bee colony nucleus, but that's because they're hard to come by.  big_smile.png
