Let see those tire beds. One thing about my raised beds is I just take the weed whacker and go around them and keeps the weeds down. Easy , Peasy. No bending over or none of that stuff. big_smile.png

I noticed buds on all the bushes I planted last fall. Currants, raspberries and gooseberries and lilacs. I am so glad. If CM has another sale this year I'll put in some Blueberries too. Plus any other things they have for sale. Now that I have plans watch they won't have any. lol.png

well if the sexing by tailfeathers is correct on week/less than week old chicks I have 50% pullets, 50% roo's in my mutts.

I'm always shocked how people take something typed on a forum so personally :) If I say it here I have done it. No Bull poop from me. I'm not arguing, I'm stating what I see in MY flock of 10 years.I'm NOT P.C. If that offends please just block me :)

Free baby roo if anyone wants him. Also have lot of free REALLY baby roos, all from blue eggs - some are americauna and some are EE and I can't tell which are which yet. :P  Just checking before I send them to a freezer camp placement. One or two of the 5 week olds is a NN roo. Hard to tell 100% yet, probably will know for sure in a week or so on those.

This guy is 11-12 weeks old and is very friendly - and much prettier than shown on this pic. But he's already trying to jump the ladies so he's the first to leave! :)

He hatched from a blue egg with a bunch of tailless araucana eggs, so he's either a tailed araucana or an EE. My bet is on EE.  The chicken right behind him is an araucana cockerel from the same hatch.

It would probably be good for anyone who can deal with them to just put up a coop to grow out roos. I'd like to but just don't have the money for such and adventure.

Nor do I. I end up taking them to auction or sending them over to a freezer camp home. I try to rehome some of the special ones, but there's only so much I can do. :P Fortunately I think easter will be my last hatch O' the year! =)

There is no auction nearby me and it would cost more in gas than I would get anyhow.  It would be better to just take their heads off and toss them.  I would like to do a few more Delaware cuz I'm replacing all the hens at least.  I do know people who will eat them.

Loving this weather, got a lot done this weekend with the flower beds, yard. Was hopign to move some composted manure, but the gods did not cooperate, and by gods I mean my 5 month old.

Has anyone every had a chick that sat very far back on their legs, like on the joint itself. I had one, the last to hatch and it just was not getting any better. Almost like the legs were sticking out to the side. I taped the legs in, and it did not help with mobility and the chick was not growing. I put it down last night when I noticed that the joints were inflamed from walking on them.

Right now I got 19 healthy chicks in the brooder, and 42 eggs in the bator. I know this will not be the last hatch of the year as I still have no Amers hatched, and a few friends want blue egg layers.

Got a few things done this weekend _ built some raised garden beds out of Hemlock rough cut 2 x 10 x 8 (dimension of each bed is 4 x 8), then decided that 4 isn't enough so I called the saw mill and ordered enough for 2 more beds.
