NY chicken lover!!!! - Page 914

DIng Dong the witch is dead....ok, not the witch but the roo that was making me look over my sholder every time I went down by the coop.   Sent him to Freezer Camp a bit early....Pisses me off, cuz I spent 10 bucks on him as a chick....that's one expensive meal.

"Hunger Games"....WOW, what a series of books.....intended for young adults, but still....really good writing....A friend posted that she had just finished her daughter's copy in prep for taking her daughters to the movie this weekend....so I got the first one "hunger Games" ....and then the second and then the third....I like to read.....but 3 books in as many days is a bit much even for me....if that gives you any idea how good the books were.

Chicks are doing wonderful.   Growing and growing.   Hens are doing well also.   One day this week I got 10 eggs.   Not sure I want them to lay that many every day.....and once the chicks start laying late this summer Featherz and I will have to find a co-op that wants our eggs cuz we are both gonna have a fridge full.   Of course there is always the City Mission....I'm sure they would take them....

I'm no longer totally new to all this and I am loving it

Of all the things I ever lost, I miss my mind the most.

Hmmm...how to answer that....They have each laid 2 eggs (plus the one in the box on the way home)....they are still in their own coop and sing the egg song each night before going to bed....

I have not seen anything wrong with them and am seriously considering letting them free range with the whole flock this weekend and leave both coop doors open and let them decide where they want to roost at night.   Now that my least favorite roo is gone I feel they will be MUCH safer, since he won't be trying to sneak in a quicky when the Alpha roo isn't looking.   (He actually injured one of my Lav Am hens with his "quickie" antics...darn roo)

So in closing I would say they are settleing in....but slowly.

Featherz- lowes sells fruit tree plant food spikes that are time release, you could try those on your trees.  Usually fruit trees take a few years to establish themselves and produce.

Well I'm off to bed 2am comes way too quick!

What should I do??? Pharmchickmom are you doing the dry incubating. Is that the best method? Help, I want to hatch these babies out on Easter so the girls(4 & 2) will have easter chickies. I hope I didn't mess them up

I have the 1588 and no problem here.  I add water with an eye dropper through the vent hole which is open all the time.  In fact I don't know where the plug is.  If I do feel the need to plug it I use a sharpie.

I can never get it to hold a % but give or take seems to work fine.  Now after day 19 I do work to get it to 65% .

Stupid Roo, he made his decision when he attacked you.  Just say "Yum"  HUNGER GAMES Oh, YEAH!  I am going Saturday with DD and her friend under the pretense that I am bringing them.  wink.png  Read all 3 books in a week.  As far as chicks go I have the 4 Aracaunas, 4 BA's and 2 Am's.  Way more in the 2 Brinseas - like it kind of sucks because I love to do the swaps here just to hatch something different, and I usually don't really care when it is time to sell the chicks but this month he.gif  I want to keep them all!  I have these cool Ancona ducks, 4 different colors of TRUE Am's, a few Barnevelders.  This is going to be very difficult.  sad.png  It's like being in a candy store with $1 But I want all of them!
