yes, town and country is the only one I go to and they did have button quails there when I went there!!!!   you all should have see how many birds and livestock they had!!!!!!!!!!!

I just ran in and dropped off the chicks. Brought $22, not bad at all considering I usually give them away for free! :)  The turkeys were pretty cool looking, but I know nothing about turkeys. Pretty sure I saw quail there too. Wonder who got the cute little goat? :)

I asked because the BR turkeys,  they are my birds that I sold !!!!

Our computer system uses shortcuts for sig codes (I type freehand, as I type faster than I can figure out the little codes), so we occasionally get beauties like that.  When I catch them, I bring the vial or whatever to the "offending" tech and hand it to him or her with a dead serious look on my face and without a word.  They read it and crack up, which makes me laugh, and the "yeah, so how does THAT work?" commences. 

I wish they didn't sell so late at night. I don't buy birds at auctions (biosecurity), but I'd love to watch!  But 9PM is way too late for me, my head is on the pillow by that time. The turkeys were pretty cool, did you get a good price for them? I've never been to any other auction - is that pretty small as the other local livestock auctions go? I'm happy with the $22 I got for my chicks, especially since I usually end up giving them away for free and had no takers on CL for $15. :)

My bird pickup last night was kinda strange (if this person is on byc, I won't id you lol). Hubby and wife got wires crossed, so hubby just dropped off a crate and the money and then went off to do other things. I had shooed the birds in the coop early so they could be caught, but turns out it wasn't necessary. To avoid bird chasing fun today, went out just now (5AM!) to snag all the birds and now I have them in a dog crate. I won't keep them in those cramped poultry carriers for any longer than is needed. My birds are too big for that! :)

Hi! I am very close to you, near glens falls. No silkies, but if you ever want 'designer' barnyard mix eggs, I have lots of those! =)

The attack occurred in daylight hours. At night they are locked in the coop. I have a large dog who liberally scents the area, but who spends her time with me, so if Im inside, so is she. We were inside. When the fox or another one came back an hour and a half later, we sent the dog out to chase.
I have been thinking of ways to protect from hawks, and am adding some shrubs for additional cover.
So what am I missing?

Your set up sounds good.  If the foxes have figured out where to get a free easy meal a 4 ft fence may not be high enough.  You may need to put electric guard wire around it.  One wire near the bottom and one at the top.  I seldom let my chickens free range because of predators.  Since I all ready had the electric fencer for the horses, the electric poultry netting works for me.  It is generally easy to move(last year the ground was very hard),  I move it every other week or so.  Good luck!

My eggs would be mutts, but interesting ones, not hatchery production types. My current coop has a pretty EE rooster mixed with Naked Neck, black Langshan, Dark Brahma, light brahma, speckled sussex,EE and a few others. I had another interesting mix coop, but they are hopefully going to a new home today if this person shows. 

yes i did, $42.00, $65.00 and $60.00 for 3 pairs of turkeys!!!!  you must have come early because by the time the birds came up for bidding they must have had at least a 100 birds or more!!!  12 baby goats, 20 full grown goats, 1 pig, a ton of rabbits and 2 bull calfs. I got a pair of baby rabbits too.    I have to get rid of a pair of turkeys, 1 pair of guineas, 1 guinea hen if ANYONE is going the auction this week or next week. I have not maid up my mind yet when to go, if you are looking to get any of the above birds............  PM me and we will see if you can come to the auction and I will sell them to you right then and there and you won't have to bid on them to get them!!!

if you don't sell the mix coop, I may like to get them!!!  let me know what kinds of birds you are selling !!!!
