Yes, actually I do have one....some hen's hinny feathers are too fluffy for the roo to get close enough for the transfer of sperm.   If your hen has a fluffy hinny, trim the feathers shorter so the roo has a better chance at hitting the vent when he releases his sperm.

I'm no longer totally new to all this and I am loving it

Of all the things I ever lost, I miss my mind the most.

I'm always shocked how people take something typed on a forum so personally :) If I say it here I have done it. No Bull poop from me. I'm not arguing, I'm stating what I see in MY flock of 10 years.I'm NOT P.C. If that offends please just block me :)

OMG I have more pips! Don't throw those eggs out early, kiddos! I had a bunch of dead in shell chicks yesterday (pipped, no noise, opened and dead) so thought the hatch was over. But what the heck, left the eggs in along with some 'ICU' patients. And a few more have pipped! These are eggs that made no noise and had no movement when candled. Wow. So more babies might be on the way.

We're going to pick up some lumber for the run today. I want to try to do a lot of it by myself if I can. I think I may have to either go roofless (with knotted 2" netting) OR put in extra effort on the roof - that area in the yard gets a lot of snow dumped from the very tall trees.

Have you guys heard the term santa bunny?  My coworker's girlfriend bought their kids bikes and power wheels for easter so he deemed that the santa bunny was coming to his house.  I thought it was cute and funny so I had to share.  I can't wait for my girls to wake up and realize that the Easter bunny came.  We colored eggs last night and they had a blast.  My 2 year old has a blue hand because she wanted to dunk her hand instead of the egg.

We have 2 pips this morning and some peeping.  In the barn we have 8 broodies and 1 thinking about it.  I think we our going to have quite a few chicks around in the next month being we also have 90 eggs in the frigabator too.  Tis the season for babies.   jumpy.gif

I heard Red stilettos and a little lip stick does the trick.  I am very jealous of all the new baby talk; wish I was hatching some. Congrats too all of the new parents out there
