Don't remember where you are located, but I am keeping my NN chicks, the chanteclers and a couple of australorps. The rest of the chicks are australorps and EE/OE's plus a possible mutt thrown in from my eggs (think only two or three of those). Kind of hard to tell most of these apart as I have a LOT of black/grey chicks. :) If you really want any let me know before next weekend! =) I haven't counted mine yet either but I think I'll have 30+ when all done so probably selling off 15ish.

Forgot to mention that the buff brahma mixes are either from a silkie or partridge wyandotte mom.  Both lay everyday just about when they aren't broody.

Wife to loving former marine husband (admhotel), mother to 2 beautiful girls and new baby coming this fall, 4 dogs, 1 cat, 2 horses, 3 ducks, 1 guinea and many many chickens.

I too will have chicks available. Hatch happening now. All RIR, White leghorn, and EE with Blue or Black Sumatra roo's as the fathers. so far every White leghorn I hatch comes out a splash! All should be good layers. All of my girls lay 5 to 6 eggs a week except for the EE's. They usually lay 3 to 4 a week.

I see a lot of coop building in my future....

And I want what he calls 'pretty' birds.  Still looking for Wellsummer, Dominque, Speckled Sussex.  And since we only have one of each, another 1 or 2 Australorp, Wyandotte and EE. I know Tab and Trav have the Wyandotte and EEs, might have to take a road trip.
Little girl had a good easter already this morning, bunny left her a kiddie wheelborrow full of books.  She has been looking through the books all morning.

Happy Easter! We are pipping and zipping here! Hoping some hatch soon!!   I made the kids chocolate lollipops in the mold of a chick popping out out the egg. Its so cute and goes along with our chicks hatching!

Mama of 2 children, 1 dog, lots of chickens...  I lost count after 35 (very diverse flock!)

Happy Easter everyone.  (For those who beleive , He is risen, Hallaluah!!)

I LOVE the Santa Bunny idea.  That's who used to come to my house when the kids were little....2 of the 3 were born in the dead of winter, so it was a good excuse to give them things they were going to need for summer.

Good luck and Congrats to all the Easter Hatchers out there.    I'm with Stony, I don't take eggs out of "hatch mode" until Day 25, having had several occations where the chicks hatched on Day 24. Since I SUCK at candling, I just sit on my hands and wait.  (and you see how much typing I do, so you can well imgaine how hard it is for me to just sit on my hands and count the days going by)

There is a new Yahoo group aimed at preppers.   It is just starting out, so only has a few people on it.... Give it a look see if you are inclined that way...  schdypreppers@yahoogroups.com

(It's not my group, but I figure I may pick up some tips about places to get things if nothing else)

For all my coffee drinking friends Ray (the coffee addict in my life) has declared the Coffee at Aldi's very drinkable....and it's $5.99 a 3 pound can.  WOW!!!  Can't beat that with a stick.  I am going to go back and get 10 or so, cuz, if you've ever shopped at an Aldi's, you know that they don't have everything in stock at all times like a traditional market.

At this exact moment Ray is outside making the door for my newly open cellar.  DRY and everything.  (Nothing is dry here in the town I live in, water table is about 6 feet down, in the dry season, much higher in the rainy season)  I am so excited to have access to a dry place to store things.   I have lost hundreds of dollars worth of good stuff in the dampness of the basement here and there is no attic as an alternative for storage.   And, as you all know, getting rid of perfectly good stuff is NOT an alternative for people like me...it must be saved in case I need it some day.

Gotta go check on all my teenage chicks.   I got sick of the smell and noise so they are all out in the small side of the coop.  They sure can drink a LOT of water....I might have to put a second gallon waterer in there when it starts to get really warm out.

Have a good day   bun.gif

Cass, I'm interested in checking out that group, but the link isn't working for me, and a copy/pates says it doesn't exist.

I'm more concerned about a total economic failure making the Great Depression look like a walk in the park than anything else. So all info is good info.

I didn't do anything, but you're welcome, regardless.   And I'm with you on total economic collapse....and hope that it is only THAT...but am working on getting ready for a really bad blizzard first and total collapse next.
