I called on Friday because they hadn't called me like usual, and he told me that the hatchery cancelled the order rant.gif

So I ask him if they are coming in at a later date and he said no, it was cancelled. So I ask what breeds they are getting in next week and he said, Gold Laced Wyandottes, Autralorps, yada yada yada ... So I asked him to put the GLW and Aussies on hold for me and throw in another BO ...(and I was planning on grabbing a few more of something)

FF to today ... I call and the chicken guy isn't there but a nice young man that works there tells me that those 2 breeds didn't come in .... that the boss will have to call on Monday to see what the status is .... somad.gif

This is frustrating.......... I need a hug! hugs.gif

Clydes is in Hamburg ....I was going to get two or three ... they were the one breed I was really looking forward to get .... along with all the other ones big_smile.png ... if you haven't read any of my posts, I am a newbie ..,. Where are you located?

Help? What do I put on a puncture wound? Just let it drain? She's missing a fair amount of skin in one spot too, its oozing a bit, I flushed it and used bactine on it, but I cannot find my new skin spray here...

Figured out what got my Silkies earlier this week, a HUGE raccoon! barnie.gif  I was outside checking a litter and heard a comotion from the back coop, I see my Rooster get out over the door and take off like a bat outta heck! I ran back and it was trying to carry off my Lav hen and I was like "Oh heck no you're not"... Only my weapon of choice was a rather dull pitchfork thing that was not very stabby... He did let go tho.

I just have to convince my husband that our tax refund should be spent on electric poultry netting, I figure since we;re only getting one bc we added a new deduction that I should get it, lol

Ack! {Poor thing!  That raccoon will be back. =(   I had a puncture wound on one of my NN and I just used blu-kote on it, healed up fine. Raccoon bites/scratches might be another ball o wax tho. Any neosporin around? Where is the wound?

Chickens heal amazingly well sometimes - my NN wound was pretty ugly and it healed just fine with only minor treatment.

Raccoons are awful because they are smart.  They can get into things that you wouldn't normally think they could.  My aunt had my uncle shoot what he could and then trapped some too.  I haven't heard of her having more issues with raccoons lately.  I hope your chicken pulls through and heals up fast.

It's always nice to sit and watch the flock out free ranging.  They have such personality!

Do you have a run now? DH is helping me build a new larger fun for the chickens and rather than getting an electric fence ($$$), we were thinking of just running one wire about 6" up to bolster the regular run fencing.. Maybe that's an option? I haven't decided whether or not to do it, but thinking on it.

I would not seal a puncture wound in case there are still bad bugs still in the wound.  I would keep it clean, maybe cover it with a chicken apron depending on where it is. I may flush it again with betadine and water, again depending on how pussey/inflamed it was.   If it looks like it is healing well and the bird is eating and drinking, I may do nothing.  I would keep it smeared with an antibiotic ointment.

hav a hart trap and a gun. The only 2 things that stop a coon from killing your chickens. Electric fencing won't stop them......for long. I kill at least 4 coons and 6 possum a year around here.

I'm always shocked how people take something typed on a forum so personally :) If I say it here I have done it. No Bull poop from me. I'm not arguing, I'm stating what I see in MY flock of 10 years.I'm NOT P.C. If that offends please just block me :)
