They are a great stress reliever ,(except when you need to catch them and they are out free ranging!!) and the antics they get up to have all my friends in stitches

okay i chose other and the reason is i love chickens i have had them all my life and i think they are awesome lol.

The silence that guards the tomb does not reveal God's secret in the obscurity of the coffin, and the rustling of the branches whose roots suck the body's elements do not tell the mysteries of the grave, by the agonized sighs of my heart announce to the living the drama which love, beauty, and death have performed.

I wanted to be closer to the earth and I wanted it for my children. It was an important part of my childhood but I live in town. They bring great joy to my life, give purpose thru the chores. Kids Love them 9-22yrs old.  Connects me to my past of g-parents who raised turkey. ( thats for next year!)

After losing about 13 to a dog attack this week, I have to add because I am a glutton for punishment! hmm

Don't get all your exercise leaping to conclusions!

Poultry- they may be your pets, they may be your hobby, they may be your livestock. But remember, if you fall down in the pen, unconscious? They WILL eat you.

In addition to having my chickens for pets and eggs, they are my happy hobby, my distraction, my confidants.  I can tell them anything and they will quietly stand and listen, sometimes even consoling me with soft little chickeny purrs.   They are eggs and pets and so much more.

I love taking care of them, it grounds me. In the evening we sit on the deck and watch their antics.

Actually we don't.  They own us!!!  They wandered into our backyard after escaping from a neighbors barn, I threw them some sunflower seeds, and they never left.  Now I guess they have become almost all of the above, but mostly pets and eggs.

I guess the OTHER is that chickens are therapeutic, as well as an important part of the life cycle of our small farm. I love to hear them talk to each other and they can sure be hilarious at times. They help support us as we support them, in all ways. They really are not very demanding and give back much more than they take. Endearing creatures,a never ending source of entertainment, beauty, food, insect control, fertilizer and at times when I need it, peace. I can't imagine being without them. love

All things bright and beautiful,All creatures great and small,All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.
