The chocolate birds with the chocolate eggs are chocolates bred with dark egg laying marans. Takes a few generations, but love.gif

Depends on whether you feed regular protein feed, or high protein gamebird formula. You just have to watch not to give too much protein or salt to avoid gout. Laying feed is supposed to be bad for roos too. I fed mine tuna and salmon once a week through winter and i didn't have any problems. I have heard of people mixing cod liver oil in the feed for the omegas, but i wonder if it makes the eggs taste funny?

Mine get regular protein feed. As for the Roo, he eats what the girls get (layer feed), always has right from the start. I have been giving mine tuna fish mixed in cooked oatmeal during the winter as well.....it's a warm treat & they love it!

So if layer feed is suppose to bad for the Roo, what should I look for symptom wise if it should pose a problem and what would I feed him? He's perfectly normal, healthy & active and it doesn't seem to bother him in anyway.

Are you gonna try for these? Experiment a little? I fell in love with them just looking at all the pics. I have one Isa Brown named Gerty that is really dark, darker than my others which seem to be more on the red side. I liked her from the start because she was darker to begin with.

It's not so much that Omega-3s are good for egg production, as it is that Omega-3s are known to promote health -- especially heart health -- in humans and it's been shown that feeding hens certain types of Omega-3s will result in eggs higher in Omega-3.  Thus, healthier eggs for humans to consume.  Today, many of the commercial bagged feeds are already enriched with Omega-3s that the birds can easily process and deposit in the eggs.  Lots of times that source is flaxseed.

Funny you should mention the healthy heart aspect of consuming Omega 3. Just seen a program last Sunday to be exact that stated the importance of it and stated that recent studies have show that it also aids in the slowing process of dementia.

is there a surgeon around that can do a gall bladder removal quick? I swear, I am going to have to give in real soon and get it out. Gall bladder attacks suck.

My oldest has discovered Beethoven on netflix. I am going to have to record him laughing his butt off. Its hilarious.

I was checking out those chocolates. I like them. Oh yes I do. But I still want jugglers. Those are awesome looking.

I think I need to just win the lotto, buy 30-50 acres, build the largest chicken coop and pens ever, and get all the chickens I want. Then dropping $1000 on a few birds would be like nothing. Lol. Oh to have dreams. Delusional? Absolutely. But possible? Why not. Lol
At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

No, jugglers are a type of orpington. Very rare. Also, they lay candy flavored eggs.
