M2M -hugs.gif Just sit and cuddle a chick.

I HAVE 11 pips!  I have tons of computer work to do today so I keep checking the incubator.  I can't wait to see the little guys, they sure are peeping up a storm!

Trying to count my 60+ chickens.  Polish, Ameraucana, Welsummer, Cornish, Production Red, Cochin, Cuckcoo Maran, Black Austrolorp, Sizzle, Showgirl, Silkie, OEG, Partridge Rock, Russian Orloff, Dorking, Basque.  Tough...

YAY! I love hatching babies! Take pictures!

I hate when my hatches happen when i am not at home. it never gets old, watching those little babies come out of those eggs.

missed it..what breeds are you hatching? No, I dont think I missed it, I think I failed to retain it. lol

Its good that you have a board review class. I did not.

You do become a family in those years of tears and study and struggle. My class was large..35, so i cannot imagine how close you all are at that small number.

Ive been hearing that national exams are the easier of the two, and I dont know when you took yours but I think they are "easier" even now. I've heard they changed it all to multiple choice (not sure if that's true), it's all on computers now, and you get a tentative result before you leave that day instead of waiting months. They also offer the national exam 3 times a year now I think, instead of once. I want to take it right away though, of course. I'd forget too much otherwise! Is it weird to wish they were both on the same day? I feel that would be easier for me, just get it all out of the way while it's fresh. Either way I'll be glad when I have that LVT after my name, woohoo! jumpy.gif

I took mine in 2004. There was no computer to give any results- you had to wait months.

I cant recall if they were all multiple choice. Definitely one of the tests were not. Especially hate fill in the blanks..like the cow and sheep breed names.

Good that they made them easier...I think.

It was rough, but I am glad that I got to get it over with- because when I think about it. I dont think I could have handled all that studying and cramming to have  different days for the tests. Shove it in shove it in, lol.

Yep, its all worth it to have those letters. :)

I do think knowing the breeds of livestock will be my hardest; I have a good knack for memorization but if it's a picture I've never seen before it'll be harder, because they I have to know the individual characteristics better. Sheep are difficult, I remember that from another class I had! Horses not as bad, sheep all look the same to me, lol.

What kind of chicken is that in your picture? I'm new to the chicken world and the ones Ive got are mostly boring breeds. :) That's ok I love them already. And as long as they lay me some eggs! Ive also been wondering, I cant remember if I asked this before or not. When do they actually stop peeping and start clucking?

One of my 4 week old ORPS died yesterday. sad.png. It was a rough evening for my oldest daughter an myself. We did go get a nice little 1 week old RIR last night. They were almost out of chicks, they sold fast. The store had tons last Friday.

Always sad to lose pets when they are so young.. Any idea what was wrong with it?

Is it ok if I pretend to be mom2 and not do anything? it is not as hot as yesterday supposedly, but it sure feel like it. I feel like I beat the caca out of myself somehow... I don't even think I did that much yesterday. Nope... cant do it yet. I have to go and give fresh water to my critters.

I went to the feed store, and they have duck feed there... well duck, geese... you get the pic... anyway, I was looking at the ingredients. PORK BY PRODUCT! I was like witch (with capital B) say what! Why the hell would you feed ducks pig by product? No really, I want to know.

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

Sarah- I have no idea what the little bugger is. The eggs were cochin/silkie/d'Uccle/serama mixes. lol

Angela- so sorry about the loss of the little chick. :(

Nova- its NO fun being me..if you are to pretend correctly, you need to sew a basketball under your skin on your stomach....

I have more pics:

I tried to take a picture of the CornishX that is my favorite..the one that runs around pretending it is just one of the banties...and see the chick in the lower left corner? I was spied...and he was coming to get me:

Now look at the difference in this CornishX...huge, in the food dish, lol..and check out the feathering..the other one that runs around doesnt have the feathering..

Oh, well alright lol. Well it sure is cute, that's why I was wondering. :) I dont normally like the feathery feet too much but that one is pretty precious.

And its a roo! Or I'd be getting it...

I am going to try and get a pic of one of Leila's girls... I think, with the way those little buggers changed so fast, I might have gotten them mixed up on to who was whose. In which case, Roger also managed to tag one of Mr. Fluffers hens when his back was turned. LOL. Sneaky little bugger. But, anyway, she has the total look of a faverolle pullet. She looks almost like Buffy, only her salmon area is much richer. She's starting to look like her muffs are actually growing in and her beard. SO, PRAYING!

Mom... I don't need a basketball. I can just not suck in my gut, and I got it.
