And I locked down 19 eggs this morning out of 42. Most of the ones I tossed were mine....so it's ok.

I have 1 Lovely Husband, a Colorful Chicken Flock, French and English Angora Rabbits, 2 Bichons, and 1 Mangy Rescue.

Nova,  It could go either way. Of the 3 roos i've already had, i had 1 who always bit me and flared, but it was because he was scared. (so depends if he's scared or mad) Anyway,  My boy i keep is a handful, and i always have to be wary, but is a lap baby when "off duty", however i will never be able to trust him around others without being there. Roo number 3 was ok being handled, but didn't like it and was buck wild. Never bit, just wild. Of the 3 roos, fright biter was the only one that never atacked.

edited to add for any newbies, DON'T LET KIDS PLAY WITH YOUR BIRDS WHEN NOT THERE! especially roosters. (At least until you know you can trust the kid to be nice and respectful)  What they think is cute and funny may not be for him.  My neighbors thought it was cute that their 2 year old went to visit my birds in the early AM, I get there one day to find the kid laughing hysterically and flogging the fence, and the roo flogging the fence on the other side. I  grabbed that kid, and dragged him home and gave them what for but the damage is done.  :(

She kept looking all around, and stuck close to the toddler the whole time, which is unusual. She normal skirts out and scouts around, or climbs up trees before rejoining us.

She probably scented something, they have a way of "smelling" with their mouths. Smart kitty to protect her little person smile.png

So sorry about your hen. Down to 3 eggs? What kind of bator are you using?

I have a Genesis 1588, but, I only set 10 eggs to begin with this time.

Whenever you get a chance for measurements/ price no rush, Chickenstock is not until June :)

Mom 2, take care of yourself!

I forgot to get the measurements again when I went out this morning. So I just went back out to get them. They are only a rough estimate as the nella brooder we made was from a crate my son brought home from work. I don't have a definate price yet because DH said it depends on the price of the materials, but he is guessing aprox 50 dollars.

5ft high

18 in deep

43 in wide

I just replaced the fuel pump in my Taurus, the filler neck to the tank had broken and let crap into it and tore everything apart. How does having less that 50% gas in the tank screw it up? (I'm an engineer, Jim, not a mechanic!)

Sunny and 49 here, and really windy, I don't remember high winds being in the forecast! Makes it feel so much nastier!

Um, could you have meant $4.15? That's what it is in my part of the northern LP, I can't imagine it's a buck cheaper up there?

And now for my highlight of the day! My order from Meyer Hatchery arrived today. I got 14 Golden Buffs (SR) they sent 15, and 11 Blue Andalusian (SR). They seemed in fairly good shape for a 2.5 day/2 night trip. A bunch were piled in the corner of the box and they seem to still be piling up under the light bulb though there is an over head heat source to the right side of the brooder (not in photos.) Got them all to drink and a couple started eating and a couple more started drinking like there was no tomorrow. I can't remember which color is male and female in the Golden Buffs (aka golden comets, red sex-links), anyone know off hand? I'm about to run back to the garage and check on things and research takes time. Also, I didn't think Blue Andalusians were sex linked, but I got 8 black striped chicks and 3 pale yellow with a hint of gray. Anyone know about them? See you later. Got to go chick watch now. frow.gif

In the Golden Buffs, the yellow ones are males, the red ones are females. And in the Andulusions, which I have, there is no sex links in them. The Andulusions come in different colors, there are black, blue, and splash. In the next to the last picture I see one, that is drinking, looks like it is going to be blue, and I see a couple of splashes in there also. The three pale yellow with a hint of blue will be splash.

Anybody want a baby bunny?  Found a den in the potato bed while I was turning it for planting today.  hmm.png  Managed to spear three of the four kits with the pitchfork, but the fourth is alive and I may be a hard donkey in general but killing babies whose eyes aren't even open is not something I relish and DH is worthless, he has a fit and has to leave the room when I put chicks down.  LOL!

If by "Good Afternoon" you mean "I want that baby bunny", then YES!
