Olive,

you can use 1 part  Esbilac , 3 parts distilled water, and 2 parts heavy whipping cream.

weigh the baby and feed 25% of its body weight a day, in three times a day feedings.  Dont forget to stimulate buny so it can urinate and defecate.

Around three weeks of age, feed twice a day- and have grasses and clover in with it for it to start nibbling.

Also, if you happen to have a doe around with kits close in age, you can blend the wild bunny in and make life much easier for yourself.

Juise-

I always use Esbilac for squirrels- have no idea about human breast milk. I am thinking diarrhea would occur, and would be scared to use it long term. It may be wayyyyy to rich for them.

KMR formula was changed last year, and baby bunnies were dying like crazy- the rehabbers I associate with were buying it by the truckload. as far as I know, it was still working for other mammals- but the bunnies dont thrive on it.

LOL!  It's not as awkward as it sounds.  Most of our gilts and sows are well trained to lay down for belly rubs by the time they reach farrowing age so it's just a matter of walking up, rubbing their side and waiting for them to lay down.  As odd as it sounds, I do regularly "milk" the pigs as it's the most accurate indication of when they will farrow.  Once we're able to express milk (which at that point is actually colostrum) we'll have pigs on the ground from that sow within 12 hours.  So... at the risk of sounding even weirder than I actually am, I try to milk the gilts and sows twice a day when they start getting close to their due date.

Haha, ahh, well, it's not a non-fiction work, but honestly, I expect accuracy from the author! It is a very small thing in the plot of the book, but at one point the main character is trying to save an infant and the only thing available would be milk from the wild pigs. The book is called "Nation", it is by Terry Pratchett.

Juise -  Gotcha! In that case it is pretty accurate. It's physically possible to milk a pig, but you're not going to run around saving infants with the practice.  And especially not with wild pigs.

HERE PIGGY PIGGY PIGGY!

Neighbor got guineas. HEHEE. Now my kid wants them. Um... No, I will just stick with the problems I have. LOL

Grandma... Na, my girls are quite clean. She finally pooped out that egg and was fine after that. It was bigger than normal, didn't even fit in the stupid egg container. BUT, that is a good thing to keep in mind. I wouldn't have ever thought to check for that.

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

The burn pit is nearly empty. I am going to take the leaf blower to it tomorrow and put on a mask, and blow the ashes out into the woods. I will make sure its not smoldering first. BUT, I figure it'll be a good place for it. Actually, I will take a few shovels full to the side of the house where they dust bathe. I thought I read some place that wood ash helps repel lice and mites. I like that. I could be wrong. Could be an old wives tail, but, hey... old wives sometimes know a thing or two.

I have 5 days till school break is over... Yes, I am counting down.

Juise, how are the girls doing today? Have anymore started showing symptoms?
