Raz, you made me think way too hard for that one, then it was a "duh" moment!

I didn't sleep more than a couple hours all night for worry!

There is a word that I find so vile that I would never use it, but I certainly found it descriptive of her behaviiour today. Especially after she called me a "rooster vacuum".

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

OK, I'm being glib here.

I'm not going to rise to the bait or sink to her level.

Well, you may have been her best friend, but she certainly wasn't yours.  In fact I question if she was a friend at all if she could turn on you over some chickens.  I almost was going to ask what a "rooster vacuum" was and then it hit me.  DUH.

Today certainly had a few entertaining moments. One of which was when Crispy, my BO was sitting in the milk crate to lay her egg. The 3 mallard ducklings sat just outside and watched with rapt attention. After the egg was laid, one of the mallards moved in and sat the egg.  At 6 seeks or so, I have a duck going broody.  lau.gif

I'm going to remember that next time DH makes me cranky.  I bet it'll take him a few minutes to get it.  LOL!

what a very cool setup you have for the chicks! Thats ingenious...I never even thought of putting chicks in the armoire...hmmmm....

nah, better quit while I am ahead, or my husband will figure out my hatchitis illness.

I hope that you get another basketball hen! I want you to clone her.

RAZ-

what kind of beer do you drink? You should come by next weekend and look at my pathetic backyard and see if you can offer any advice in a manly beer drinking way....We have to get dirt, but I think its a lost cause.

I want to drain the pond- but what about the little toadpoles? Its not a pond, its a disgusting swamp hole.

So, we made those deviled egg chicks.

They were so much work.  And they were SUCH a pain. And they wouldnt cooperate.

And I am never doing them again.

I honestly still don't get it, but I'm very tired so I'm not really even trying to.

It seems to me today that the wild turkeys are everywhere lately.  They've been running out in the road in front of me all week.  And this morning when I took the dog out I heard them somewhere in the field across the street from my house.  Little Gomer, my bantam roo, would crow and then I'd hear gobblegobblegobble, crow then gobblegobblegobble.  I couldn't see them, but they couldn't have been too far away.

Btw, speaking of turkeys, I stopped at the TSC in Lowell and they had baby turkeys today if anyone is interested.
