Daron - Loved all your pictures. The lilacs are beautiful! Nice and short so you can smell and cut the blooms. Mine are so tall all the flowers are 6 or 8 feet above my head! Also love the pics of the emu eggs. Do you have them in the bator now or is that an old picture? Have any pics of hatchlings, I'd love to see those! Do you still have emus, I haven't heard you talk about them.

Hello Jake! I guess you're not new, but welcome back. So glad to have you.

I agree with Opa, all these chick pics make me want to get a few.  Mama's babies are almost as big as the others now.  I just have to make sure I get all pullets this time!  I was going to wait till Chickenstock to pick up a few but this MG talk has gotten me paranoid.  As I've said before, I'd like something I don't already have and TSC doesn't seem to have much.  I love the dark eggs from my Marans but they are not great layers, at least mine aren't.  Of course, I only have two, but some days neither one of them lays.  Kinda thinking of Orpingtons and would really like some blues.  Opa, you had a picture of some beautiful blue chickens a while back.  What breed were those and are they large or banties?  I'm not really interested in banties.  Right now I have 14 hens and 4 roosters.  Need to get rid of two roos and pick up 6 more pullets.  I also keep looking at my pond right next to the coop and thinking it would be fun to have a few ducks playing in it, but then I think about the mess they make and what would I do with them in the winter?  They'd have to stay in the coop with the chickens.  No, just more mouths to feed and more mess to clean up.

Farmerboy,

Your going to kick yourself, like I am right now....barnie.gifThat MG vaccine that I posted about is dirt cheap compared to our vet bills that you and I have incurred.  I kept hearing how expensive it was compared to the price of chickens. he.gif    I wish I had heard about it sooner and got it when I bought my first chickens.  I'm glad I looked into it!  I'm waiting for another rep to call me back to sign me up with an account.  I talked to my husband and he gave me the okay to order it.

I will be ordering it and a couple of other vaccines I feel is important for my flock.   I spend the money to vaccinate and keep my family safe, my dogs save, and from now on my chickens will be included!

YES! Let us all know the pricing for MG vaccines! I am not as paranoid, but I am ya  know. I'd like to continue to free range my birds with out the worry of that from stray birds.

Didja'll hear?! Supposed to have a snow sleet mix overnight and into the morning. What the!! Gotta love MI... And I do.

I have decided that I need to quit my 3rd shift job a lot sooner than 2 months. I wanted to wait till my furniture was finished paid off at Van Hill, but I am sleeping less and less. I am waking up continuously while I am trying to sleep, worried that I missed my alarm, what time is it, how much longer do I have before I have to wake up. I feel sick after I eat, I feel sick when I finally get up. I have lost 4 pounds this week. And a bit of TMI, my pee is dark. I checked my sugars, and they are fine, I don't have a bladder infection... I am thinking its either the peppermint, peppermint/Valerian tea, or milk thistle... or a combo of them all. It doesn't smell strong. My kidneys are not hurting... I will have to do some research on that.... I have an appt with my doc... for MAY! Yeah, May... Oh well. If I get worse, I will go to the ER. BUT, I am putting in my notice. Its a 30 day unfortunately... But I am going to hope that they will jump on it once I give them the low down on it all.

I took my mom for blood work this morning. I met a very funny young couple there. They were there for an ultrasound to see if the young lady was pregnant with twins. She's only 8 weeks, but looks more along the lines of 4 months. LOL. They were making her chug the water to get a full bladder. Poor thing was squirming in her seat. She went to get up to go pee, and I was like, "Hey, you can't go potty..." She looked at me like I was crazy. I told her the reason she's drinking so much water is so they can get a clear view of the twins, and she needs a full bladder. She told me, she aint having twins, but she's just getting fat fast. Yeah, only in her belly. LOL. I remember them days... Drinking so much water you are about to burst, and then they go pushing on your stomach with the ultrasound wand. Oh joy. They were so cute. Gave my kids peanut butter mini cups. LOL. Yup. Hype my 6 yr old up on sugar before he goes to school. OH YEAH! I sent him and his little brother outside for 30 minutes when we got home with the water guns to run it off.

I have to get a nap. LOL. TRY. I also better do some more laundry. I have a back log. How is it 2 boys can go thru so many clothes is so few days...

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

Hey guys, keep me in mind if you have any unwanted porcelain roos!

I'm not sure what my de'uccles color is. I thought it was mille, but it is a buff with the black stripe running along the feather shaft?? I thought mille's had spots from the get-go?
