Olive - I may take you up on this. My MIL sent me her pressure canner. It kind of scares me. I need to go have the guage checked but I just know I am going to blow up my kitchen. hide.gif

How far are you from Grand Rapids?

I like Elspeth... I read somewhere once that it means fat cow... since then I can only find that it means God as my vow...

Irresistible when it had the perfect set-up. Probably once in a lifetime since I've never been in a conversation about round vs square bales an probably never will again. Corny jokes and puns are my favorite. If my icons worked on this phone you'd see the smiley under a chair.

I hope you get better SOON! :)

Mom 2em All View Post I ate Chinese yesterday, buffet style. SOMETHING I ate I am no longer allowed to eat.

I would lay odds on some type of rich sauce, since the meat/veggies are lean. Also, they use liberal amounts of MSG in their food, not sure if that was it for you, it bothers some people.

Thanks!  I'll have to try this one, we use them quite frequent. I wouldn't mind if it was onion smell on my hands, but it ends up being more like an awful sock, and it wakes me up at night when i put my hand near my face!

x 2 on the pressure canner. I own one we picked up at a yard sale, but the thing scares me. I have oodles of jars i could use, if i could get them back from DH's aunt, she filled them and seems to be hoarding, hope they get eating before jam season! I like the older jars for some reason. We have a few that we don't use, since they are obviously collectibles. A few say "grandma" something, one is the old green glass before they invented the screw top, one is a screw top but has bubbles in it and was hand-made, and one i have never seen anywhere else is a vase-ish shaped ball with raised polka dots all over it. I can't figure out what it's worth??? It is pretty though.

Hi backyardfarmmom, welcome big_smile.png

Not too far.  Hour, hour and a half, depending on which part of GR you're coming from and how fast you drive.  ;)

None of this stuff seems to work for me with the onions (though I'll have to try the matchstick).

I think I'm going to just try using swim goggles next.

Do hoop houses work in Michigan?  I was considering going that route and just insulating with hay bales (you see how I tie in TWO conversations here at once!) for the winter but I wasn't sure if it would be too cold for them.  Certainly it would be easier to keep ventilated.
