Selective breeding.

When having problems with chickens stop and think, what would Harlan do?
I've dealt with many thorns in my life and the flower is always worth the effort.

Ooooo i want one! :)  I like pampered chef, i'll have to look it up and see if they still carry it.

NovaAman View Post I am not sure if I will be giving the FFH here in Holland my business anymore. I may like the variety they have, but I do not like the irresponsible people who work in there.

That's a shame. Our TSC does a decent job, and the FFH in Allendale looked decent when i went in. I think it's all who's working that day, cause on a few occasions when i stopped in at the TSC here they were looking a bit icky, but they are quick to send someone to fix it if you point it out. Found a chick being pecked to death the other day, too, and they whisked it away; so sad i wish i could've took him/her home and fixed him, but that 6 chick minimum....

Does anyone know why the minimum, anyway? Stinks, i wish time to time to add a few to my current ones, but no....

'tis true, i saw basically the same thing happen to  a bin of "broiler" chickens that didn't sell well at the feed mill. Quite shocking, really, the difference between the "regular" chicks and the giant "chicks", if i remember right she said they were ready to eat in 3 months?!

Only once that we were there did even one other person come in, and all the employees were standing around chatting with each other and contemplating their navels. They have definitely lost the benefit of the doubt from me, it really looks as though they just don't give a ship. I'm sorry, but if you are going to carry a dozen brooders of chicks, you should know that you can care for them, in my opinion.

Yes, thats all.

ETA: Well, that and more efficient nutrition.  But that didn't happen to the chickens, it's just allows what has happened to them to work as well as it does.
