Hello in Rogers City.  I love it up there.  My brother lives in Onaway.  I am here in the "no you cant have those chickens" Southeastern Michigan.  I have three hens who keep me supplied in yummy eggs.  I  hatched 5 eggs in my bator in Feb and March.  I believe 4 of them to be cockerls so they cant stay but the one hen will stay.  I hope to some day live where I can have 75 chickens and a Rooster too!  love.gif  I love my chickens.

Just finished uploading pictures of some of the truffles we made, thought I would share. Mmmmm! They were good. I think I am just about ready to make some more...

This is a great idea! My son is going to make a brooder for me out of plywood with a hinged top. I have a cattle dog you see and she is going to be a pain I am sure of it.

Maybe not. I have a herding dog and she generally ignores the chickens until the group gets spread out too much for her liking. Then she runs around to regroup them. (From the safe side of the fence)

My "problem-child" is my Golden who wants to pick up the stray and return the wayward chick to me. It's just the little ones that she can fit in her mouth. She doesn't hurt them but they don't know that.

She returned a wayward Wyandotte this morning. Somehow, the chick found a way out of the fenced run and my GR caught her in seconds and brought the chick to right to me. I was a bit surprised and the poor chick was terrified. roll.png

Welcome to a fellow "chicken outlaw".

I'll be going to court in a few weeks about my offending hens.

*And yes, by "abused" I mean she used it as directed.  roll.png lol.png  Problem is, I can't breath when I get too hot.  Can't sit in hot tubs, don't drink hot drinks, etc.  She would always tell me to stop whining and cover back up and go to sleep.  At some point I'll probably require therapy for this and a host of other parental misgivings that weren't resolved in my first go 'round with the shrink.
