I've been using a product for years that is very effective for eliminating those nauseating cat odors.  It's made by Remington but the one made by Winchester is equally effective.

When having problems with chickens stop and think, what would Harlan do?
I've dealt with many thorns in my life and the flower is always worth the effort.

I have read all of Pratchett and Gaiman, will have to look into some of the others, thanks :)

And thank you Ladyfeather for your list, too. Hey, did you ever see the anime list I put up?

We made dandelion wine once before, it was terrible!!! I think we did something wrong...

Thanks! And Opa, also, for your suggestions as well. So many of those things don't work a bit, or only actually "mask" the smell instead of taking care of the problem. I may actually but one with some assurance of success.

I did see the list and there were a few I either owned or saw years ago. (There are two Witch Hunter Robin DVDs that are calling my name in the boxes from when we moved).  I've got a million of those to catch up on too and I feel like I will never get there.

4 ISA Brown chicks, 4 Easter Egger chicks, 1 Peking duckling, 1 Indian Runner duckling, 1 Buff orp chick, 1 RIR chick, 1 SLW chick, 2 kids under 6, one overworked husband.

Opa, I agree! When we first moved into our house the "un-used" house down the road had a bunch of feral cats breeding in it...I used a similar product to rid myself of issues cats cause...can't remember the brand but it was a 22gauge strength.  gig.gif  wink.png

I fail to see the humor in either one of these posts.

lau.gif I love cats but I still think this was funny.

I can't believe my chickens are 8 wks old already! Doesn't seem like I've had them that long. And they are huge, they look it to me anyway.

Oh, I have a question. We want to put fertilizer on our backyard lawn. The chickens are inside the area where I plant my garden, so I can keep them off the lawn if necessary until the fertilizer is good and "soaked in". What do you guys recommend as far as, how far away from the fenced in area where the chickens hang out should we fertilize? Or rather, how close can we get to their area safely?

There's nothing actually funny about it when feral cats are stalking and trying to kill your livestock. If it comes down to a bunch of feral cats who can't even be touched by a person or my animals I've invested time, money and heart in...I'm sorry but the cats have to go. I talked to different organizations and vets and tried to get someone to take them if I live trapped them and they said I'd have to pay to drop them off or pay to have them euthanized. If people took care of thier animals I wouldn't have to.

Well said Jen. Unfortunate but true.

Congrats Jen, handsome Showgirl!

Nice Turkey Opa, the best way to hunt!

I read nonstop and at least 3 a week and all varieties.  I go through fazes.  I read every book I could find about Everest, then I read all the different eras of post apocalyptic NO ZOMBIES - favorites were "A Canticle for Leibowitz" by Walter M. Miller and "Lucifer's Hammer" by Larry Niven.  My favorites are always the ones that get in my head and it's all I think for a while.  I do however also like fluff like Janet Evanovich.  One of my favorites that no one seems to know is "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer - yes that one that did the "Twilight" series.  One of the greatest body snatcher books from the aliens point of view.

My husbands thoughts exactly, although he has been known to use a conibear in a milk crate.  Our first fixer upper home had 6 stray/feral cats living in the drop ceiling of the house and they would not leave willingly.  Glade made a product that was awesome and got rid of the odor, it's no longer on the market so who knows what was in it.

My son did good at his achievement day today.  He talked the evaluators ear off about his chickens.  He had her laughing several times.  We didn't stay for ribbons so he will have to wait till next week to find out how he did.

My youngest chicks are spending their first night on the roost.  Usually they are on the roost until it starts to get dark and all head for the nest box.  Not tonight.  I'll go and check on them once more to see if they stay there.

Between interruptions it has taken me 50 minutes to get this posted. barnie.gifWho knows how many new posts I have missed.
