Robin- there are four blues...two pullets, one little roo, and one I dont know. Then there are the others. If you and your friends can split them up, I will box them all and send them> I am sending them in carriers that I dont need back. So, dont worry about transferring them. I worry about a little bantie escaping and running around McDonalds- and everyone would think a nugget got free...

You can slip a few of those D'anvers eggs into the incubator and bring them to Chickenstock with you ...:)

Thanks M2M. We will take whatever you send. No problem. I am still working on the d'Anvers for you. One of the big roo's hurt my little d'Anver rooster so he cannot fertilize the eggs right now so I don't think it would be good to put some in the bator. He is getting better. I just picked up some babies Friday. These ones are not Quail d'Anvers. A little roo, I know is a mottled d'Anver, and I think one is a Millie Fluer d'Anver, and the rest I have to wait and see what color they are.  Will get you some as soon as I can. I am going to call a guy I know in Ohio and see about another Quail roo and a few more Quail hens.

Juise! That is so cute :D My girl loves to play dress up too.

So today we hung outside in the backyard with the ducks for the first time. I gave them some grit and water then filled a shallow lid with some water to play in. Yesterday I picked up some endive and watercress from the store because I'm concerned about their niacin intake. They are on Dumor from TSC and I have been adding some Brewer's Yeast to their food every time we fill it because adding it to their water might overdose them.

They loved dabbling in the water after the chopped up greens and at the damp grit. My kids running around like maniacs freaked them out a lot so we had to herd them back a few times before they settled down in the sun together. They loved the water and one of them rolled around flipping her/his wings over and over. Watching them scramble around poking at the grass and water I noticed the tiny duck my husband took a shine to has very twisted feet- he/she steps on them and walks slower than the rest. :( Not sure if it is some mineral/vitamin deficiency or a genetic thing.

Little feathers are popping out near their tails and they preened nearly constantly while they were splashing in and out or running here and there. Wandering around the yard.Feathery buttsPlaytime!

They still hated to be picked up but at the end of it they didn't run screaming when the kids shot by. One of them sounds really hoarse and one of the Indian Runner never stops chirping for the most part so I'm not certain what their problem is.

4 ISA Brown chicks, 4 Easter Egger chicks, 1 Peking duckling, 1 Indian Runner duckling, 1 Buff orp chick, 1 RIR chick, 1 SLW chick, 2 kids under 6, one overworked husband.

Puncture wound near the eye.  Ask your vet if you can have some BAYTRIL and then since you are giving it to a chick, just give it a couple drops of BAYTRIL in its mouth twice a day. You can pull it through but you will need this antibiotic because of the cat saliva bacteria. A topical antibiotic won't be enough. If you have spent some money at a vet for your dogs and cats, they should be able to let you buys some antibiotic for a chick also from them. Ask them!

I'll give them a call and see if they have some tomorrow or Tuesday.  I work tonight until 7am so it will probably be Tuesday.

Thanks...So far none of the other chicks or Waffles is even paying any attention that something went haywire.  They are ALL a bit skittish now and Waffles jumps at you if you're near the brooder.  She's on her toes I think about anything overhead.  rant.gif

Ladyfeather - Your ducks are so adorable.  My mom has 5 pekin ducks and they are spazzy..

So my d'uccle seems just fine now.  I looked at it's wound and it's healing already.

The sun was out today and we made total use of it.  Got the brooders, coop, and pens cleaned out and all the feeders and waterers, too.  My tween chicks got their first look at the outside world.  They seemed a bit dubious, but adapted after awhile.  My lone banty sebright stuck near them the whole time.  I think she preferred them to the big girls because they were her size.

Rbahmer- sorry about your dog.  Cocker Spaniels are so sweet.

vj- sorry your chick got hurt.  Don't feel bad, though, when my tween chicks were a few weeks old one of my cats tampered with the brooder and we lost one.  Said brooder was turned into Fort Knox after that.

Chicksstophere

Welcome! Sorry I missed you.

Vjwilmoth: Glad to hear about the chick healing all ready. Spazzy huh? Sounds like they won't be cuddly ducks then. Hubs might be a bit disappointed but I promised to get some different ones next Summer from an egg so he can be a duck daddy.

Sorry for your loss Robin...

Juise, when are you due?

Mom, take Randy up on his offer. Maybe he'll be able to help you with your toxic dump and get your mowable grass again really soon... AND THEN, He can drive across the state with his gear and come and help me fill these holes in my yard! AND dig the pond out the rest of the way for the duck... OH, I can dream. LOL.

Kimmie... That is one scary bite you got going on there.

VJ, Blucote the wound as well to keep other chicks from picking... You weren't here yet when this happened, but my dogs got one of my chicks not to long ago, well, it was only about 2-3 weeks, and they used that baby like a chewy. It survived. Them little buggers can be quite resilient.

CG and EMAW, how are your sons doing? Better I hope. Who else was it here who had the cough? I can't remember, but I hope you are better as well...

Olive... Have you considered just putting your foot up for a day?

Welcome to the newbies. Hope you make chicken stock.

Opa, nice turkey.

AND, now about me... HEHEHEHE

I got the ducks in a new bigger area. Boy were they happy to have new spots to dig for bugs. Silly ducks. I hope to get the burn pit cleaned out this week. I am going to take everything that hasn't finished burning and bring it to the way back. It can finish decomposing out there. I am tired of taking so long to burn. Sheesh. Maybe I just do not know how to build a good fire. I don't know. LOL.  BUT, they are happy with the bigger area. Now I have more water bowls all over as well.

Ruby, dang dog... She found a new exit. I am tempted to drop a tree, cut off all the branches, and lay the log against the fence line... lets see the little EA go through that. HA.

I still do not know what is wrong with the push mower. I cleaned the air filter out, lubed as well... and after a few faulty starts, finally was able to keep it running long enough to finish mowing the back yard. YES!. Oh shite... my phone is out side! Man... brains are clearly not in the offering today.

Broodies are holding tight.

Got the old broody box up on the picnic table in the yard. Going to apply the wood side treatment. Going to get some meat birds either this week or next. I think next week is the last week for FFH to get them. If they don't get anymore, will order from townline.

My puggle is in heat. Anyone near me have a pug, or puggle to knock her up? HAHA.

Oh, Juise... She's so cute!

Ok... I think thats it. Now to see how many posts have posted in the time it took me to write this..
