It's always nice to meet another BYCer. I got to meet SillyChicken this morning when I picked up her koi.
He made it back home without incident and was transferred to the pond. I think he likes it there. He is 2-3 times larger than my other koi. Now the pond doesn't look as sparse.
I hope the rain moves in, it has been so dry here. There have been a few sprinkles but not enough to wet the ground under the trees.
Tonight is the council meeting regarding chickens in Garden City. One councilman was quoted in the paper as saying he wouldn't mind chickens as long as they are "properly caged". WTH?
The paper also has the proposed wording for the amended ordinance and it is asinine. They want a permit, a application fee, an inspection by an as of yet unidentified entity, renewal of permit each year and a ban of sharing the eggs with anyone outside the property.
Even though the council is open to allowing chickens, I think they need some education on chicken keeping and a lot better wording of the ordinance..
Is there anyway to write one out for them, siting other cities that it works in? Also, I don't understand why giving away eggs is such a big deal. not like the city would be sued if joe schmo got sick of fred schmed's eggs.
Wish we could have talked more this morning... work always gets in the way of fun! I told my DH that he was going to a nice place with a huge pond, I figured he'd be happier with you than that darn tank.
