Thanks Olive. She just has a seriously poopy butt from all the skeets. Her vent is clean and not clogged, so as long as that doesn't happen, I will just leave her be until I see she is better. I have frozen gallon water jugs hanging in coops. The chickens, especially the yesmeaties, tend to concentrate under/near them.

Well all, have a good night. Been a long day.

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

Nova- this is yucky, but maggots can be drawn to poop left on any animal.  When I worked as a vet tech years ago we would see animals including dogs, ducks, with maggots irritating the skin after feeding on the poop stuck to the butt.

When one of my animals has had poop on them, I wash it off so a butt wash for that hen may be good prevention. I agree with Olive on avoiding the shock of a full bath however. Good luck!

oh, I plan on cleaning her bottom. I will use damp cloths to get it off, and trim the fuzzy butt feathers too. Just won't do a bottom soak unless her comb is more perky.

Which is exactly why Chickenstock is such a great thing.  It allows us to put names and faces together.  Sometimes folks look nothing like we had envisioned.  In my case I'm sure I appear just as imagined.............OLD.

Pish Posh!!

She also had a photographer come out as well. Some of the shots were posers that I thought was kind of funny. I wonder if Fabio got started that way.   At least I was wearing a BYC t-shirt.

Now I'm anxious to see how the article gets written. I think it will be positive.

In England many refer to the chickens as "chooks".

They have some good marketing to convince people it's a very health drink, but the drink itself is still sugary and as acidic as many sodas. After a lot of physical activity, your body needs nourishment, not just a handful of salts and sugar based carbs.

I've found that Poultry Drench (available at TSC) can be a helpful additive to water for chickens during extremely hot days.
