Sounds like a blast.  Heh.   I think making fences may be one of my least favorite things... maybe.

coffee porcupine.gifCoffee is on and looks like another warm day with a "slim" chance of storms is forecasted. I watched the sky darken late yesterday but inspite of our need it passed us by without shedding a single drop of rain.

I worked in my shop yesterday building a bed platform for one of Hope's granddaughters and just a couple of hours of working left me in a highly "glowing" state.  I need to do a little sanding and filling of nail holes and then it's done.  I also repaired a small deacons bench for her.  Rather than having a lid it has a drawer and one of the drawer glides was broken as well as the seat (top) having stripped screws to hold it on.  At supper I told Hope that it was done and she asked what type of hinges had I used on the lid.  I doesn't need hinges but since Hope was insistent I hurried went back to the shop and pried the lid back off.  Later when I talked with her son I found out that there had been a breakdown in communication and I had been right.  So this morning I need to reattached the lid.

Coccidia as Olive stated is caused by worms and can be fatal to you flock.  I'd recommend picking up some Sulmet and treating them as soon as possible.  Two tablespoons per gallon of water is the recommended dosage.

Raz, not sure if this is the product you were looking for but it is an extremely effective odor eliminator.

Good morning Michigan, lovely cool day started with all different kinds of birds singing in the woods that surround my home. As well as my young roosters greeting the dawn lol.png - they sound a little rusty still. I sure dont miss hearing that pen of 8 big boys, they are so much quieter in the freezer. They were about 16 weeks old, and dressed out at 2+ (the jaers) to 3 1/2# (the Delawares).

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

headed out in just a bit to care for Moms house, critters, garden then to go pick them all up from Milford.

Then fireworks later on at Heritage Park.

If I get a chance, I will come post in between those two tasks on my agenda..if not, remind me to tell you all about my crab experience last night when husband and I went out to eat.

Total Colour asked that we post ourselves on our avatars for a few days so that she could put faces to names..

AND I decided to come back and share my crab experience now, rather than later.

Last night was my last night kid-free and I wanted to go eat crab legs somewhere that normally we cant because paying for five people is too expensive. SO, told my hubby lets go to joe's crab shack. Then I thought about it ALLLLLLLLLLL day while working and was craving them so so much.

Well, my husband is a butt-head and he took too long to meet me at my moms. It was already after seven when he got there. THEN, his daughter called and was in Ann Arbor and nobody had fed his Mom yet- so we had to go get her some dinner and take it to her before we went to eat. I threw a fit, its too late, she wont eat this late, cant believe nobody remembered to take her any dinner.  Well, I was right- and she didnt want to eat, so we had to hang out there and kind of 'join her' so she would.  By the time we left, it was eight o clock. Too late to go to Joes- so we went to the golf course near by that has crab legs.

When my crab came, the shells were bendy- like they had been overcooked. The ends were mushy- like they had sat in the water too long. Busted the biggest one open, dipped it in the melted butter...and hmmm...doesnt taste good. Now, being a little slow...I took the remainder of the leg, dipped it in the butter...and nope, it doesnt taste good. It kind of burns my mouth..and I smell the shell. Burns my nose.

I pick up another leg...mushy end. Smells like ammonia.

Husband says, "did they soak these in bleach?"

I broke open a second leg, take a piece...again, MASK it in butter...and take a huge bite..

sickbyc.gif

Hubby tells the waitress to take our plates back to the cook and tell him to take a big bite for himself. (i love when he tells them that at restruants. Whenever we complain, waitstaff love to tell us the cook says its normal, or blahblahblah..so now he just says, "Tell the cook to taste it". )

Waitress comes back to apologize, tells us the crab is rotten, and they dont have any more- that was the last of it.

They will take it off our bill.

No I dont want anything else to eat- and NO I dont want anything else to drink.

Im waiting for the botulism, salmonella, heebyjeebies to hit.

Just caught up reading posts.  It was a long day yesterday, nothing interesting with chickens.  My son did have his guinea pigs put down.  A nice vet makes a big difference!  He managed but was teary and then a bit more when we buried them.  They now have a lovely headstone on our side of the cemetery fence. My niece who has lived with us 3 years came home yesterday.  She is 18 and as soon as school was done she went with her boyfriend down state for a visit.  Now 2 months later after hearing nothing we sent her an email that we were making plans without her for July so she was on her own for the time we would be camping. She came home the next day and now expects everything will be as normal.  Sleeping in, no job, and us taking her to her boyfriends all the time.  And I have the great joy to be the tough parent. he.gif  Today is farmer's market for me, DH and son are driving an old jeep in a small parade, and then we are off to the St. Ignace car show. Enjoy your day everyone!
