I know, I know, you guys all missed me!  I am back now so no need to panic...........lol, ok, I know.. rolls eyes!

 

So......... vacation was seriously JUST OK.... HOT is an understatement!  I was about as hot down in KY as it was up here.   The caves and some swimming was a welcome relief to the heat.   We ended up riding home Saturday night instead of waiting till Sunday.  

 

Everyone at home survived the heat without any help... luckily!   But, I think my parents are getting to the point where they're not going to be able to help us anymore.   They locked an interior door to get into the house we don't lock.... so when we got home at 3:00, we had to punch the lock out and buy a new one.  Plus they over fed the birds and used up over 50# bag of feed that should have lasted longer than 4 days.... ugh!  

 

guess I'll have to break down and get an outside farm cat to take care of the now well fed mouse population!!

 

Hope all is well with everyone.  I see there are some losses, so I will say sorry to everyone who's had one recently.

The pics you posted of her is what made mom fall in love with Silkies.  Currently we have 1 adult hen, and 6 new babies.  Any guess as to how old they might be?? Or what color it should be called?

Whew! It's been a crazy day. We're getting things done we neglected while it was so hot! Yesterday we didn't do much because I couldn't walk well. Still in pain today but I had to suck it up and get moving!

 

Aric is now washing and waxing my convertible. I don't know how he knows the things I want done before I even say anything! I took a break before I was in overdone status. 

 

If anyone hears of any call duck hens please let me know. I need at least 2.

 

Also looking for scrap lumber.

 

We still have the coop for sale. I thought once the heat broke it would have been sold by now. We've never had them last this long. We might even make deals for part of the money!

 

Ok enough slacking, time to get back to work! I hope everyone has a great day!! 

I got 2 of them there watering things. Lol. No, really, I have 2. They are great for the littles. The chicks do not tip them, another nice thing is just flip them bottom over and you've got a feeder. Well worth the 8 bucks.

Man do I wish it would rain...

Well, quiet day today! I am guessing that people are doing what I have been doing... Catching up with pen cleaning... I swear, you could use heat hardened chicken chit to pave. I am not kidding. It just would not rake up. I ended up using a roofing scraper to get it up enough in places so the metal rake could get the rest! Whew! What a job. At least the summer coop an run is fresh now. Going to have to invest in that sand real soon, least ways for under the roost areas. I just have the meaties pen to rake up. Their feathers are every where. I thought there was a slaughter when I went out yesterday. I asked Jace if a bird got taken again, and he said no... And he was right. All are accounted for. Boy do they lose a lot.

So, fresh feed all the way around, fresh water-ers, and now, guess I will work on feeding the two legged featherless creatures.
