HELP!

I have twelve 4 month old BBB turkeys and three almost 3 month old BR turkeys. This is my first year with turkeys and they have been great...until today. Everyone was fine when I locked them up for the night, but this morning when I went out to feed them I noticed one of the BR babies had a leg turned funny. I took her out and looked at it and it looked fine when I was holding her and she ran like crazy when I put her down, like it didn't even hurt, she just had a limp. I tried putting a splint on it but she refused to stand up. I put some vet wrap on it and she still wouldn't stand. When she's standing still she will look like she's straightening it and the other leg is just fine. What should I do?

Snowflake, you're not talking about Thuston's are you?  That's where I get mine.  I haven't been there in a couple of weeks, though. barnie.gif

Whew, what a week.  Between work, doctors, vets and power outages, I am looking forward to Sunday so I can just sit and do nothing.  I just now caught up with all of you and I see I've missed a lot.  So hello to newbies, yays for eggs and chicks, sorry for losses and boos for dramas.

I have a new squeaky toy today.  When I got home from work, I heard Baby Girl's little chick-y roo making his first spring coil sounding crow.  I thought he was too young, but my youngest reminded me that he is a couple of months old now.  Time is flying right on by while I rush around taking care of everything.

I also need advice.  I have an egg eater.  Don't know who, but I've noticed that I'm not getting eggs like I should.  When I went out today, I found broken shells from 4 eggs (one was still a bit yolk-y).  What is the best approach to resolving this?  I am going to get some golf balls tonight to put in the boxes and am adding 2 more boxes as well.  Is there anything else (besides constant checking for eggs) I should do?

Really?....REALLY!?  I wonder if you're the only person they are harassing like this?

I'm not sure.

Maybe people can call him and ask. His name is Angelo and he can be reached at (734) 793-1800.

 You should pm Olive about this. Her and Silly Chicken are the turkey raisers.

And my taxes, $2000 a year and I paid $14,500 for my house last March!!!!!!!  Fire everyone and let us be!

Rant over big_smile.png

Ironically, we were looking at property north of us and someone told us we'd better check out how picky the towns are before moving in.  This confirms that. Sheesh!

Today's complaints were;

1) Tall flowers out front that need to be cut down;

2) Garage needs to be power-washed and painted or sided;

3) Firewood needs to be 18 inches off the ground;

4) Porch needs to be rebuilt because it is missing several bricks.  Bricks that the neighbors took and did not pay for. Bricks that caused me to file a law suit against them for theft.

Then the other neighbor came out to itch and got upset because I pointed out the violations in his yard.

Funny thing is that nothing was mentioned about chickens.

It's going to be a long hot summer here folks.  Stay tuned to  the comedy antics here in Garden City.

"Garden" "City", is that an oxymoron?

The upside is that I didn't get another ticket, but I have until next Friday to comply or face the consequences.

Power-washing might be a problem since there is a water ban in effect for the entire city.  How does one wash a garage and not use water?  Am I being obtuse here?  th.gif

can they show you were the city ordinance says all these things are out of order?Fire wood 18 " off the ground, FLOWERS to tall??? come on how do they get the city to write all this stuff up and not see you are being harassed??   maybe we should all start calling them I could set my alarm for 2AM or maybe 5:30 when I get up to let the chickens out??

don't know about turkeys, got a chick with a leg turned looks like she has MS,, didn't notice it when she was little so much but more noticable as she got older. she pretty much hops around on 1 leg and a toe. the others leave her alone though.
