Hawk proof?

For our hawk problem we took fishing line (green) any color would work. And we made like a spider web design, no places were big enough for a hawk to fly through, and fishing line is to small for them to sit on. Then where there is a gap between the fence and the fishing line (as a roof sort of) between that area we have deer netting. These are both really cheap and very effective! We only lost one chicken and that was before we put this on. The wind just passes through it all, snow actually looks pretty on the deer netting in the winter, and it's fun to watch all the birds avoid it! gIve it a try your chickens will be much safer.

I have a few tables i hacked the legs short. Maybe 12" high. generally theyll be on the lookout for predators above and alert the others fast. But if they cant make it to cover in time theyre screwed. Mine would wander in the back yard during the day and i had two setup. Theyd run under them at a moments notice. Havent lost one yet since theyd get under once they saw one and poke their heads out and watch til itd leave.
