What age do you start worming chickens?

What do you use at 6 and 10 weeks? I have some wizine (sp??) but have heard Ivermectin is good

I use the wazine in there water and mix it weaker than it calls for.

You'll get a few different ways to do it. For me, I've had them for over a decade and have never wormed them once. My grandpa used to run a egg farm here too and back then they just ranged and went into the barns at night, he also never wormed them.

wazine does one kind of worm, Ivermectin all three. i know there is a 14 day hold and you have to toss the eggs. I did mine and they haven't laif for 3 days

If your chickens are on dirt/grass they'll get worms. They'll almost always have some worm load that, when healthy, their immune systems keep in check. I suppose that younger (less than 6 months old) birds would be more susceptible to an overload. I've not read of anyone that deworms their birds with a commercial dewormer on a regular basis (more like on as as needed basis). I've read about cayenne pepper (haven't tried it yet), diatomaceous earth/DE (use it in the coop, haven't put it in their food yet), and apple cider vinegar (the raw kind with the 'mother' still in it). The ACV seemed to give my Wyandotte loose stool, but my bantams did fine with it. I would love to hear about Ivermectin dewormer: the form & strength used, as well as how often. The topical formula is what I'm most interested in, ofr an occasional (i.e. yearly) deworming.

FYI I dewormed my Wyandotte this spring with Panacur (fenbendazole) because I saw worms in one of her stools. A few weeks later I saw worms again. SHe's doing fine. The worms will be there, though.
