Glad that candler is working out. I will buy your story of seeing something move. Check the goat page 2 more were born today. Tell the other half the little white one is heading to Pennsylvania. Not going to say anything about the new chick. You might smack.gifme. Did you make it back in time?

Today I got a candler at the feed store. My flashlight was just not working that great---and wow what a difference, this one is lots brighter....and I could see 7 of 8 squiggling just a bit...at first I thought it was from me moving the egg---but I really swear I could see something moving in there! is that even possible? Or am I seeing things? It was an awesome feeling though to see the little vessels and a little critter in there! One was totally clear, but it was the only one I had put a question mark on because I thought it might be my BR egg, I did not catch that one in action, so it probably was not the right egg anyway. AND I was so excited because I was SURE I had killed them this afternoon, I left the blind on the window open by accident and ran uptown and the therm said 104 I was so worried, I hurried and waved the warm air off of them and got it right back to 100 and it has been 7 hours and they looked ok.....hope they stay that way! Geez i will feel so bad if they poop out because of my absent mindedness.
The four I put in after the fact (5 days later) also look like they are developing, I better find a second bator for them! I went ahead and put them in because I was worried the first batch would not work because they had been in an awfully cold part of the fridge. So far so good.
And YES when I went to the feed store I looked at chicks. And I was working that math. And I fell off the wagon and got a little white rock because (here is the justification) it was a bit older and would fit in with my peepers I got 9 days ago...and was one breed I had looked for and not found the last trip to the store. Ugh. I need to go to chicks anonymous. There really should be such a thing hmm.png
Sphinx---I am not so sure about my lavender either. I am giving it two weeks and if it does not look as red as Diane's picture on ksl (I saved it for reference) I am calling it a girl and never looking back. I want it to be a girl so stinking BAD! Then she better lay blue! I will take light blue, just please oh please not another green egg. They are nice, but I am ready for my blue egg.

Hey, where in utah are you? I have a styrofoam incubator with an auto turner in it and forced air fan that I am not ever going to use again since I got my Sportsman. You could have it for free if we can arrange to get it to you somehow. I live in Bountiful, so I'm not sure how bad a drive that would be from wherever you are? I could ship it to you if you want to pay the shipping, too. I hate to see it just sitting there doing nothing!

Well, three of the eggs in my incubator are either 1/2 or full lavender ameraucana. If one of them turns out to be a hen, and yours is a boy, Lisa, I'll give it to you. :-)

I'm sure you saw them wiggling around, I've seen chicks wiggling in the egg.

Phoenix---NO i did not make it back in time lol. And I came home with a chick so my dh was like hmm.pnghmm.png and I was like roll.pngroll.pngbig_smile.png so it was pretty funny. And remember the window? I opened it to show the coop then I left that blind open that is why that darn thing got so hot. Woops! I was busy yapping and not thinking. Happens way too much as I get older...... And great idea on the wet paper towel, I scrunched one up and put it in the corner of the bator just to see what would happen, and the humidity went from 24 to 59! Wow that really does the job!

Sphinx--so sweet of you to offer to do that! We will just hope these question marks of ours will turn out girls! That is funny you have more of those hatching...geez they are beautiful little babies aren't they! They were the cutest love.gif

Donna---again such a sweet thing to offer! I live in Logan...but I am very interested! I would be glad to pay you for it, let me talk to the DH tonight and get back to you. We might arrange a trip that way, we have a few different things we need to get to Ogden for. Thanks so much for thinking of me, hang on to that if you would and I will let you know what we can work out. I will pm you within the next day. Awesome! big_smile.png

So I really saw squiggling! I am so excited now. I really thought it was in my head---but my son swears he saw it too! So I am not crazy. Well about that anyway lol.png

Thanks Brad..I had them together this past week, and like I said, she was snuggled right under her because I didn't have any heat on them this past week. They should be buddies for ever.  :)  I wouldn't be surprised if they want to share the same nest box some day. lol  It sounds like you have a friendly flock to start with..that always helps too when putting newbies in.  thumbsup.gif

Lisa, you should be happy you saw veins!  That's great.  You will know when you see the eyeball moving.  Little tiny black spot.  That's great, you are going to have babies of your very own..hatched by you, and you will not be able to give them up..not even the roosters.  lol.png

Oh Geez Cynthia do not say that my friend! I have to find homes for these, I have chickens everywhere big_smile.png This is my big fear, I will love every single one, if any are tough enough to make it to the end of my hatching obstacle course! I hope I can part with them without crying my eyes out. I am excited to get this right this far though! I could see the little dark eye, it was amazing!

welcome-byc.gif Christee! I'm your neighbor! I'm in Clinton, but I live on the town border to Roy, so we're very close.  Tell us about your flock!  At this moment, I have 9 chickens. Two that were hatched the first week of January, and 7 that were hatched the first week of february. There's a GLW, a RIRish looking mutt, two lavender ameraucanas, and five blue laced red wyandottes.
