I know there's Cuckoo Marans, they have a barred look to them.

I really need to DE my chickens. Hats off to you for doing it yourself, Lisa. Wow, I can't believe that egg could come from a BCM/EE cross. I would've expected olive green or dark brown. Those are what I got from my experiment. I still kind of want to steal those hens back from my sister in law. She won't mind, right?

Well, tonight we're going out to dinner as a family. My husband told me that tomorrow evening plans belong to him, and I don't know what we're doing. I suspect we'll be going out with his sister and her DH (her birthday is 4/21), but I don't know what we're doing.

Hatch Cam LIVE. Hatching 19 misc. mixed breeds http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wendywr1 Possibility of pure FBCM and GL Polish, but most likely a fun assortment of exotic mixes.

I have 25ish chickens, including legbars, coronation sussex, FBCM, polish, ameraucanas, EE and OE

Sphinx-Well that sounds more like it. Hope you ahve a great time both nights!
The egg thing surprises me too! So funny we were guessing olive or blue or choc. Never ever guessed light brown. I still am having a hard time believing that belonged to her.

Cynthia, we must be getting wires crossed. I thought you said you saw one that looked like a BR. That would be Cuckoo if it were a Marans....you must have saw something else. She has wheaten marans it looks like....they are gold. Pretty. You mean golden barred? I have not seen anything like that... that would be fun!

Phoenix, hope her bum grows back too. It was like that all last winter and she did ok. I kept thinking if she would only moult then they would grow back. Maybe in the fall...the one feather still there? It looks ridiculous like that huh! poor girl. I have some more feather pulling going on, it makes me crazy, it is not the space, they have plenty now...I just cannot catch whoever it is in action. I need to send another girl packing I am afraid. It was great until about three weeks ago...i have found three girls missing lots of tail feathers and two have even bled. Grrrr

Wow this thread moves fast when everyone is on! Happy Birthday Sphinx! Eat some cake for me please.smile.png Cynthia those little chicks are the cutest! I'm just wondering how many incubators you have going at one time? It seems you always have eggs hatching. So fun! It would make the waiting easier if you had them staggered so you always had some ready to hatch.

Was wondering if any of you have had your chickens poop look like black tar? My sweet little polish has been pooping black poops for about 1 1/2 weeks now. She acts fine but I know something is going on with her. I've search it on BYC and no one really knows what it is that causes it. We did have a fence built around our garden and I'm hoping she didn't eat a nail or staple or something. I have been giving her yogurt but no change. I was just wondering if anyone has had the same thing with the chicken and if it will go away? Thanks

Nope the feather is gone. You sure it was HenRee who was doing the tail pulling? She has been an angel here.

Sweetie, that would be me with the wires crossed in this brain.  Did I say barred rock?  No, she has pictures of some beautiful bird with barring, and it is a golden barring.  It says golden barred beneath the picture, but, golden barred what?  Probably a Rock...??

Your pictures are beautiful. I really miss those mountains. You have a beautiful view of them. I get red mountains here in southern Utah. They have their own beauty but boy do I miss them for up north. Thank you for your beautiful pictures. Enjoy your spring!
