I flip a mug upside down and put yogurt on it.  (It is the only thing that I have found to keep the chicks OFF of so they don't get their feet in the yogurt.)  So I give yogurt to my 3 week old banty cochin frizzles and decided to put my banty EE pullet in with the frizzles.  (When I have everybody outside on a nice day, I set up the dog exercise pens right next to each other so they can see each other and somewhat socialize, but the teens have never been able to actually touch the babies.)

ANYWAY, I put the EE girl in with the frizzles and she starts dipping her beak into the yogurt and then suddenly FREEZES.  Like, dead still!  She realized she was in the same brooder as the frizzles.  For the longest time, she didn't move a muscle.  I think she was scared to death of the frizzles! It was the funniest thing, I swear!  My daughter and I were pretending to speak for the EE.  "If I hold REALLY STILL, maybe they won't see me!"  Ha ha!  lau.gif

She started to move after a little while, and became comfortable with them.  One by one, I put the other teens in with the frizzles to see their reaction.  The Wyandottes (LF) didn't mind sharing yogurt with the little bits at all.  When I put the EE roo in, he did the same thing as the EE pullet and FROZE.  Maybe it's an EE thing?  Hilarious, either way.  lol.png

I can relate to that yogurt.  Stand back!  Cute story of the chick finding itself in a new place.  They are funny when they go somewhere different.  Poor things are scared to death..almost.

Wheeee! Got to see Lisa and Sphinx again tonight big_smile.png Thanks for stopping in for a few, you two! It's not everyone I can chat chickens with, ya know. It was good to see you both again! And show you our messy house. Oi.................

corvidae, I can't remember if you said before how long your broody hen has been on the eggs? That's exciting for you! Mine has about a week left, I think fl.gif

Cynthia, glad you heard back from that guy about the chicks. And I'm very glad that the last hatch yielded a bunch of blues for you. Awesome! I am loving the babies I got from you. After seeing that splash that went home with Lisa, I'm looking forward to seeing how mine will turn out on the coloration.

Oh, they are way hooked, believe me! One is into Welsummers, another into Breda! And the third likes his Easter Eggers! They all love hatching eggs. Unfortunately, I have to work all weekend, so we can't go, but Lisa will be scoping things out for me!

This is a funny story. We go to pick up BluJems' rooster. The guy answers the door and is telling us how that darn wife had four or five chickens and now she has XXXX many and the city oridnances say the limit is (5 i think he said). I look at Wendy and said "what an awful person" haha. Chicken math strikes again. So glad to hear it is more and more people.

Cynthia--the babies are awesome, those little Am's are so quiet and sweet. Love them!! Thank you so much! PM me your address girl!!!
Oh here is another guessing game for you all......I told Cynthia I would take a few chicks. I told her 3 max. How many did she send for me....was it 3?

That splash looks a weensy bit boyish to me....I have been on the fence with that one. Beautiful colors, love the look...I see what you mean though about it being hard to tell. Thanks again I appreciate you smile.png And thanks Red for transporting. It was so fun to see everybody! Got to see Donna, Red, Sphinx, AND get chicks from Cynthia so it was like seeing her in a way.....not as good as the real thing. Wendy I had so much fun gabbing with you the whole night, got to know you so much better. Oh and I will tell you all here that I cannot drive and talk at the same time, and Wendy is the BEST navigator. She saved me from getting lost. Guess what Wendy? I drove right past the Brigham Exit on my way back and had to backtrack. I had to laugh at myself for doing that. Was thinking about chickens. roll.pngroll.pngroll.png

~Lisa, the overworked pet to a chicken herd of many spoiled (girls?) and 2 handsome boys: Turkens, Rocks, Sexlinks,  Houdans, Marans, Olive EE's, EE's, Ameraucanas, Polish,  Showgirls, Silkies, a cute Frizzle mutt and an Austra-white. And some cute little quail!  http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/la-casa-de-pollos-member-page

Oh man, if that splash is a boy, I will be going...should have stuck with the black.  Red and I were looking at them both, going this one..that one?  I said, ok the splash, now watch, it will be the boy!    Now the waiting game.  I am still not sure on that one yet either, but thought it looked more like a girl.  Will see!

Sounds like you all had a blast.  Wish I could have been there..did you see my post on Kirk?  He will be coming by tomorrow to get the chicks. He's keeping in contact now..so that's good.

GET TO BED.  LOL, I'm going..night!
