What are you hatching again?  Dome?  You mean vaulted head?  That is one of the biggest reasons for losing chicks with the high vaults.  They can't turn in those tiny shells.  I helped these two out last night.  They are hardy and noisy today!   I am keeping the buff one, at least I think it's a buff.  It has a bowtie.  They are funny.

Just got back from Lava. Wow lots happening! Cynthia---congrats on your babies. And Nooooooyou are wrong, I like the showgirls AND the silkies alot! I want one! That last picture is soooo precious!! BUT you know how it is going at my place. One of everything. And too much. Need to weed some out before I add more smile.png Birdguy is trying to talk me into turkeys. Argh!!!

Daloorashens, your chicks look so happy and cute! jealous of those leghorn/EE's. Jealous jealous jealous! Sundance, congrats on lots of pips and kitties, sorry you lost the one....that is awful.....but then more to hatch to make you smile smile.png

Red, any work on your truck?? And Sphinx, your poor girl! Same thing has happened here, I am in your club. My boy woke up with the swollen fingers before I realized it had been broken on our boat the day before, no wonder he was fussing so much, man I felt so bad!!

My news for the day, Sasha, you will like this.....my Frizzled Polish I got from Auntie Hattie
dun dun DUUUUN!!!! is cuckoo too. stripes all over the place when we got back. It was black as night, just goes to show you have to wait to be sure huh>>? I am still happy with the Villian, but my son really wanted a black and white so she will have to grow on him smile.png I think she will be super cute. Putting a pic below.

Hope everybody else is having a happy Father's Day! Going to go chill with my DH and celebrate, (and clean camping gear!) We had a great time, we need to have a little BYC Lava Hot Springs get together. Off to Raging Waters next weekend if anybody wants to go! And of course the chickie shuttle from SLC to Logan if available if anyone needs on our way back.

My newly discovered cuckoo "Masked Villian": A teeny bit of pink waddle action that is making me nervous. But still pretty cute smile.png

You can see those waddles starting here. Very nervous......pleeeez don't be a boy!

Now I am looking back at my pictures on that post. Really wondering on those wattles. Sasha, will you let me know how it compares to your two from this hatch?

Jill, let us know what you get in your next polish hatch. If there are any left, I may try one more time if this one is a boy......it looks possible wink.png

I'm loving all the super cute chick pictures! The show girls are so fun! Cynthia you have all the fun with hatching. Such fun varieties.

Sphinx I would love to see the feed box. I have been planning on doing one of those just haven't got to it yet.

Sundance I'm so happy you are getting chicks and kittens!

Lisa you bet! Even if it isn't a boy and you want a WC black I will trade ya if i have them in this hatch. I have one other person wanting a WC black so I'll be hoping for a few. I'll see what my sister gets too. I know she had one cuckoo but didn't know on the other. So I will check. I want your boy to have a WCBlack!

So in my news.... My son and daughter decided to stop having chickens for a while. To much with taking care of little ones I guess. My granddaughter is devastated so they ask if I would at least take her little hen so she could still see it when they visit. It is a buff bantam Cochin. It is the sweetest thing. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter has raised it and I think I will have her raise all my chicks from now on. She is so careful and sweet with them they follow her everywhere and this little one will be my sweetest hen by far. I think they got discouraged this spring when they got two Silkies and 4 bantam Cochin chicks. Only one turned out to be a hen. They still aren't sure on the Silkies yet but they say they are acting like roos. So now they are trying to get rid of the 5 roosters.

I have a Silkie that has gone broody again and it is just so hot here! I'm afraid she will over heat and die.sad.png I need to take action other than taking her out of the nesting box a gazillion times a day. It's just not the time to be doing this. Later this week it is suppose to get to 108. Not good. My Silkies aren't even a 1 year old yet and it is the second time for this one.

hattie,
have you tried dipping your broody girl in cold water? I read on another thread that really worked in the summer. It lowers their body temp. (It rises when they go broody) just set her in up to her neck for about 5-10 seconds, holding her tight, then take her out and let her run around to dry off. She might be mad at you though tongue.png I would be lol!

I guess we cannot tell on these little guys until they are a few weeks old what color they will be. Surprises on them! It is fun though, and I am amazed at how quickly they change!

Hope your buff banty cochin settles in nicely. You will have to show her to us, love the pictures! She is hitting the jackpot, living in that adorable coop you have set up big_smile.png

Cynthia, cute little Showgirls! I'll admit they're kind of shocking when you first see them, but the babies are so cute. At some point, I still want to see about getting a Naked Neck or two to see how they are. Babies with toupees..........hee! love.gif

Aunt Hattie, god luck with your broody girl! That is the sole reason why I am reluctant to get any Silkies. I think I might have my hands full with the breeds I've got now, as it is. Wyandottes, Welsummer, BO's..........ohhh goodness.

Sundance, congratulations on the babies! They're looking pretty good so far smile.png

Lisa! Villain is looking fantastic! Love, love, loooove the coloration and features on that chickie.

Still nothing on the truck. I'm supposed to go with the boyfriend tonight to check a canyon that is really bad. You can't get up there without 4WD or a good ATV, and apparently it's a popular place to rally vehicles and then dump them. Here's hoping we find something hmm.pngAnd then get to smack the dirty punks that took it. I'm not vengeful :P

Game warden of the crazy preserve. Inmates include: EE's, RIR, BSL, BO, SLW, Welsummer, Exchequer Leghorn, blue/black Wyandottes, BR's, Ameraucana's, and Icelandics <3 Plus an adopted brown turkey who is broody and must be part cobra, part goose :P
