She is a tuxedo cat, black and white....with four white paws...and on her back foot there is one black toe. Awww. She has been the best cat ever, she is so sweet. Will be sad when her time comes....she has arthritis and I can tell she hurts sometimes the way she jumps and walks. Not bad, but a little. She has survived lots and lots of preschool kids over her 17 yrs.
Hope those wasps got their butts handed to them lol. Did you spray them?

Kittens, did you say kittens?  I'll bring stumpy when I come on Sunday.  He is the cutest kitten ever.  A fuzzy sphynx with 1/4 tail.  He is my favorite kitten and I'm thinking about keeping him

I'm surprised to read all the posts about hatching.  Do you guys hatch chickens all year round?  How many birds do you each have?  Do you keep them for life or are you regularly selling/swapping them around?  Do you guys see your chickens as pets or dinner?

Just curious....

I can't eat anything I raise.  I am sure down the road some of my chickens will be dinner to someone.  Just not me.  I have a few girls that will always be here even when they are no longer laying.  The life expectency of chickens isn't long.  so after they quit laying they only have a year or so left anyway.  I do swapping with other hatchers and hatch for my self.  It is enjoyable to me.  Glad you are getting some rain up there.  It rained on me for a minute this morning when I was catching chickens to loan to my neighbor.  How was LA?  Glad you are home

The Blue orp pullet was beautiful. HUGE, I am sure laying any day, bright red, looked like a very big hen. The trip to Paul is nice, you could still go get her! I would have, but Orps and Wyandottes are not my thing as much. You should go get that clean faced Ameraucana, she was adorable! There was a clean faced boy too. I really had a hard time walking away from that ameraucana.

I love my 2 mixes I got from her, very cute. Sweet little personalities too. They do not look like the Marans as much, more orange on them and big dark eyes. The OE is much more stand-offish. Looks much different than the OE's we got before, looks exactly like the FBCM's, same coloring, eyes, clean faced, everything. Then the little FBCM is very sweet also. Pretty happy with them smile.png

~Lisa, the overworked pet to a chicken herd of many spoiled (girls?) and 2 handsome boys: Turkens, Rocks, Sexlinks,  Houdans, Marans, Olive EE's, EE's, Ameraucanas, Polish,  Showgirls, Silkies, a cute Frizzle mutt and an Austra-white. And some cute little quail!  http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/la-casa-de-pollos-member-page

That's cool.  I find it interesting to learn.  Chickens seem so very different to me than geese.

LA was LA.  Same as always.  It is nice to be back home!

They are very different.  Geese live much longer and are much smarter than chickens.  Did you use the corn meal for your ants?

We do not have a problem eating the roosters, There are a few hens that I have not been able to do, and most have been rehomed.  I am hoping to only have about 10 total, but the number changes here and there.
