Hey neighbors, I wanted to share the news that Fox 13 spent the day here putting together a story about the great goose rescue.  In case anyone is interested in watching it, they said it was going to air tonight at 5pm & 9pm. fl.gif it will bring in donations for much needed vet care or placements for our extra grey dewlap ganders!

My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 32 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 10 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).

Hector, I am so, so sorry about your landlord. It's got to be difficult to have no power to do anything to make it possible to keep everyone. I hope you can find a great home for everyone. If you do start getting desperate and have to separate, I'd be happy to take your EE.

Cynthia, I'm sorry you lost your chick. That would be so tough. I'm happy that you overall had a nice hatch though. Congrats.

Sundance, how goes your hatch? Everyone out now?

Red, I'm surprised that they're not going to press charges against the malamute owners. Sounds like there's pretty compelling evidence of neglect.  My FBCM cockerel was hatched the second week of April, so almost 4 months.

Iain, that is fantastic news about Fox doing a story!!! I hope you get tons of donations and offers of adoption.

So far, my cockerel has seemed to do ok with the big girls. The partridge is acting like she wants to go broody. What?! I introduce a boy, and within 24 hours she goes broody?! I'm not ready to officially call her broody yet, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Hi Michelle! (pawtraitart). Glad to see you in here. wink.png Good idea about the house cochins. We all drool over your chickens behind your back so now we can openly tell you your birds are amazing. Wish you lived here close. You are right, the Idaho thread just does not have lots of activity, so hanging out in here is fun smile.png Note: The picture in my avatar is one of your eggs that I hatched my little FBCM girl out of! Yay for brown eggs!

Hector, I feel sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad for you. Seriously I have tears in my eyes and I just could come all the way down there right now and sit with you and cry and give you a hug. Why do people have to be like that? Your chickens will find good homes, try to stay positive, and do look into getting a little house bird or something to help ease the pain of this whole travesty. I hope you are doing ok, and know that we adore you and are here for support, and would still love for you to be here part of our chicken friendship.

Dang landlords. grr.

On a "trying to find things that are happy" note, I will have some pics up in a sec from the concert, it was really fun. And I heard from Sasha last night she got a fun egg? I did not see if you posted here Sasha, you should, it was pretty funny.

Red, you should put up a "NO DOGS sign, and a NO TRespassing sign, do you think your neighbors would get the hint?

Cynthia, all your babies that hatched were black?! What kind were these? I was thinking the polish were due, was it something else?

What a day.  I put the 6 Duncle Mille fleurs that hatched yesterday out under my broody silky.  She was so happy  Some one saw my add for sizzles.  They came over and bought 1 sizzle, one frizzled Americana, my red frizzle sadie that crowed yesterday so his new name was sid and she bought 4 of the Duncle Millefleur chicks.  Nice lady they were very happy to get them and the money will go towards my food bill

He does have a BO, with a baby now.

He said he had someone text him already about buying everything.  Wonder if they were serious.  Will see I guess.

Sundance, I'm glad you got a bunch of birds placed. That's terrific! I'm with Lisa - the cost of feed seems to be going up. Yet another reason to have a garden.

Birdman, after seeing your garden, I'm really tempted to start some oat grass and such. You guys should see all of the awesome plants he has growing in his yard. Got some onion starts and a cool sunflower from him that are doing great!

Lisa, didja have a good time at the concert?

Sphinx, if those doggies have been neglected, I hope the 'owners' get in trouble. When they first got a hold of our turkey, I was mad at the dogs. Now I'm just ticked at their people. I'll bet those dogs are getting better care at the pound than they did at home! Grrrrr. Hopefully someone more responsible takes those two home.

Good on ya, Sundance! I want to take a bird for him, too, but I don't know that we have the room yet. I'm glad a fellow BYCer can take one of the mama's.

These were my winning birds from the Father's Day Hatch along, and guess what?  They, are maran mixed with EE, sooo, should give the olive green eggs!  Funny how things work out right..but, I could also get the brown egg..but, I just know I am due the green egg.  I know, sounds silly wanting a particular colored egg, but I have this thing for those olive eggs.

   Waiting for pictures Lisa.  pop.gif

Hector may have all of his chickens sold already.  I was chatting/crying with him of fb..when he Wow!  Someone just texted me, and wants them.  The person hadn't texted back..hmmm, ksl.   I am taking back a black cochin with a baby.  Scott is right now at this moment, making a broody spot at the end of the coop for her and future hens, or her again..which she does go broody a lot.

Oh, my polish are in lock down, due to hatch on Mon.  You can believe, if they start pipping on Sunday, and they aren't all pipped, I'm going in by evening.   I have 5 in lock down.
