Are Chicks just for "Chicks"? - Page 2

My son loves our new chicks.  It's our first time raising them and so far it's going great.  They are 4 weeks old with no problems.  My son, who is 12, gets in the chicken area in the garage and sits down and lets them walk, perch, and peck at him.

God always answers your prayers. Sometimes He answers "Yes" sometimes He answers "No" and sometimes He answers "You've got to be kidding!"

I started our collection, but the whole family has taken to them now. The kids love watching them, and my 7th grade son acts like Santa came to visit everytime he comes back back to the house with eggs smile

Awsome!

I had NO IDEA there were this many men on the board-really, I thought it was almost all women here.

I can speak as a woman that it seems like we like to "collect" things (shoes, clothes, knick-knacks etc.). So it would seem that "overdosing" when purchasing chicks would be the womans specialty big_smile.

My husband was not thrilled when we stopped by the feed store to "look" at baby chicks last year (we came home with four) but now he swears they are the best pets in the world. He said that, unlike our dogs and horses, they don't poop a lot, they don't eat a lot, they are funny to watch, and to top it all off, they give us something in return!! Nevermind that the horses give us rides and the dogs give us companionship... barnie
So chalk him up as another male chicken lover. Sure, he doesn't post on the board, but he reads it over my shoulder!

Hi, my name is Eric, and I'm a Chicken-holic!

Yes I am! I just got my first flock one month ago. I already have 25 more in the incubator I bought just a couple weeks back. I just built my first coop and I think it is too small. I really want some Blue Lace Wyandottes, so I know I will hatch out more, (since I couldn't get any for this hatch) or find some somewhere. Is there a 12 step program out there? Do I need help?th

I am a man and I love my chickens and my peeps! (NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE) I dont think as many men sit behind the computer for as long. I spend my fair share behind the pc, but I also spend my time outside with the birds!!!

My husband loves our chickens, and I've heard that when I'm not home, he sits in the run with them and reads the mail and talks to them.  My son says he's almost as crazy with them as I am.  He just spends his computer time playing chess is all!

I'm a man! big_smile I know more male poultry enthusiasts at home but it does seem like there are more women on the forum. Asking for help about chickens is just like asking directions... Most men just don't do it!
