Hi all. A couple of weeks ago I contacted "My Pet Chicken" and ordered 10 Silkie chicks. They said that it would be mixed group of Silkie types and even though I have White Silkies that was ok with me. This company is the only one I found that would "sex" bantam chicks. After my last experience with too many roosters I decided to take a chance and order from them. This morning the post office called and I went down to pick up my new chicks. All 10 in good order, happy, chirping, drinking and eating and snoozing. Imagine that, those little bundles of fluff just traveled from coast to coast and don't appear any worse for the wear

Now if they all do turn out to be hens, "My Pet Chicken" will have a lifetime customer.

Cool! I think you will be pleased with at least the Whites (if they are the same stock I got).

I really have mixed feelings about MPC. I would probably not order from them again unless it was a good deal and I *did* end up with roos in my order (at least three so far, the Silkies are too young to tell).

So anyway, I got Black, Buff, and White Silkies (as well as a couple other breeds). The Blacks are typical hatchery quality. The Buffs are perhaps slightly above hatchery quality. The Whites are WAY above normal hatchery quality birds. All three of them are gorgeous birds. I hope yours turn out the same!

After a couple hours most all is well. However, one is pecking at its rear constantly. We have inspected its bottom and can see no signs of "pasting" but we have applied a moist warm towel and even dunked its butt in warm water. Nothing apparently wrong except the pecking/preening behavior. We have contacted MPC and they say we have done all we can (except apply a small film of neosporine ointment) and say the best thing to do is just keep watching. You can be sure we will do just that.

I ordered 25 from MPC in June. I was very specific about breeds and gender, except the silkies I ordered I went with straight run. They got it EXACTLY right gender wise and they were all in good shape. I got nooooo problems ordering from MPC again. Plus you can get just a few if you want (based on where you live that is).
