Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hello fellow "great-state-of" Wisconsin residents.

I recently found the Wick Place Farm website, and have chicks and started pullets in some breeds I am interested in.

Anyone dealt with them before?

Thank you,
-pg
Hi I am on western side of state, never heard of the them. Get mine from farm and fleet. Was just there and they had leftover meat birds on sale. Lady said if I take them all, .66 apiece and maybe even deal cheaper. All 150 of them.

We got about 8 inches of snow last week and were without power for 5 days. Snow was gone before the power came back on, lol.

I had permission to work from home, but with no power I had to go to the office to work. NOt many people showed up in the office.
Must of been heavy snow or with some icing wow 5 days, that sucks/
Good Luck Bigzio hunting

No, never heard of them. I just buy hatching eggs off eBay or find quality breeders who sell eggs.

Once I bought chicks from our local feed mill, but half died so I'm never doing that again. The ones we hatch don't die.

I never heard of them either.
I never had a big die off of chicks I ordered through the feed mill. I generally ordered direct from the hatchery, though. McMurray always replaced dead ones or gave credit for them.
USPS is hard on shipped chicks. They just don't care..

SO I was thinking of splurging, my hens have been working pretty hard. Lots of eggs. Thinking of getting like 5 lbs dried soldier flys couple 3 times aweek a hand full. SPoil them alittle even thou they free range.
Anyone ever use dried soldier flys, opinion?

Bigzio, good luck turkey hunting. I've got the 2nd season.
TOR, where in the world do you buy soldier flys? learn something new everyday.
I picked up 4 new,1 year old hens on Sunday. They are still staying apart some. It will take a while. I had 9, so added 4.
I also put up some fencing for them so they don't get into and throw my bark everywhere. I still have to make a gate.
I am now thinking that I'll get some meat chickens instead of turkeys. but can't imagine feeding and taking care of 150.

back in the day, when my brother and I each had 3 kids at home, I used to raise 200 meat chickens. then we would get together on a weekend and doo 100 each day.
I free ranged . so all I had to do was keep the feeder and waterer filled.
my LGD shown in the picture kept the predators away.
even the airborne ones. I didn't close the coop at night.

Amazon has them aside farm fleet and box stores. Amazon is cheaper. BSF black soldier flys are real high protien, but quite bit fat, but amino acids, etc and high in calcium etc. I am not seeing any comments, Think I will get some, splurge, treats spoil them a little couple 3 times a week,( they free range prolly dont need them)
Yah 1 box farm fleet she said had over hundred the other box was at least half as much, to much for me.
My broody, sometime in the next 5 days maybe some chicks, she keeps moving making it challenging.
