Wisconsin "Cheeseheads" - Page 1646

Haven't even thought about our garden yet, a friend of ours brought us a bunch of seeds so we do have a start, we typically don't start plants- not enough room and time to take care of them.  The kids and I have talked about trying potatoes again and maybe trying to find some blue tomatoes.  We lost our beets and carrots  to moles last year- they went along under ground and took bites out of each one

Interesting about keeping quail with pheasants to clean up, our  2 peas and 2 pheasants seem to do a pretty good job of clean up- every once in awhile the peas try to hog the food...

TO-how'd the horse selling go if I may ask?  Did you give her the papers?  Just curious....Oh hey, question for you....Do you know of any saddle or tack shops that take/sell consignment?  I'm seriously considering selling my saddle and I have no idea where to go.  I can list it on craigslist but I'd need to have it appraised/looked at first to get an idea of a fair price to ask. I also have a bunch of saddle pads and some other tack to get rid of too.  Any ideas? Thanks!

Now it's a good morning everyone! They worked on the wireless towers until 6 AM. I called at 6:30 no internet and spent an hour trying different things, they scheduled a tech to come out. The gal I spent all the time on the phone with called me back to try it again. Turns out I was the first to call and she got many more after me. They went back to the tower and VIOLA it was their fault. Whew! I was just mere seconds away from opening the paint can. Too late to get started on that!  Tiki so good to hear from you! To echo We miss you! And Bec too! Glad your job is working out! Hope it eventually gets you to where you want to be. AH HA here I was feeling soooo guilty about starting the hatching and it turns out it was H&R all along! I really was feeling guilty, really honest! Otonoh glad your hens are laying for you! Nothin like fresh eggs eh? Bigz  Sausage on the Barbie! Your just mean! Angie bring that egg over I took out a ham steak this morning. Green egg and ham! TO sounds like your spill didn't didn't cause you to break a hip. Yet.  There was something for MLH's humor and FT but it's gone. And Jim and others. Just sucks!  I clean out one brooder box yesterday and the other today and changed the 250W heat lamps for the last 2 incandescence in the house. They seem to be just fine with them. Thinking might be butchering sooner than I figured their feathers are coming in pretty well now almost to the ugly stage. Lots of chest bumping going on. Think TO gave me a lot of rooster eggs. Boy is FT gonna find a surprise some morning at the Draft Apple Roo Ranch!

Bigz that's a good idea about starting the hatching thread.  I'm gonna set eggs ON april 1st.  it's soon time to divide up breeds.  I can't wait.

I didn't see the booklet today at DMV but last year I noticed they have a booklet on how to talk to Seniors about driving and how to get them to give up their license etc. Would you believe that they were referring to people 50 YES TO 50 and older. So don't let your Children see that booklet !!!!

 

After putting these 2 sentences in the same post, didn't it even occur to you that maybe, just maybe, you might be one that they are referring to? Hmmmm????

Hooray! I guess my memory isn't nearly as bad as some of you old foggys on here. (That's what DHs German uncle used to call old people, even though he was one himself).    H&R was the instigator of all this hatching madness.

Kris, greenhouses do not hold heat in overnight, at least mine doesn't. Plants will still freeze in them, so you have to be careful when you put your plants out there. Mine is in direct sun all day & they seem to like it.

Bf4, that Comet of yours is a ham! Look at that wing. Too funny! Must be a roo: he's showing off already.

Sandi, I tried that Northern craigs list ad.. It has been flagged..  I have 2 'Barred " roosters. One I am definately  going to get rid of..  the other I will use if I cannot find a better one..  He is ok looking, but a bit on the smallish side.  I am in contact with a guy from Abbotsford who has a couple roos..  I am waiting for pictures..  Too far to drive sight unseen..

 

I got rid of my 2 extra BR roos last fall..  there was nothing wrong with either of them,, I just didn't want to feed them all winter..  Oh well, that is a chance I took..  Of course, the red rooster, which I  have no use for, spent all winter outside..  Nothing wrong with that fella..  this morning I had to rescue the red hen from him..  she now is safely in with all the rest of the egg layers..    

 

anybody want a free red rooster?  I don't know how fertile he is, but it would not be for the lack of trying..

 

I would think that in a large pen, the quail should be able to escape from the pheasants. In many apiaries, quail are used to keep the floor cleaned up..  quail are harder on each other than other birds are on them..   give it a try.. we can always replenish any losses..

 

I fixed 6 pinholes in the metal water vessel with JB Weld..I filled it this morning for it's maiden voyage.... cheap fix..  better than crazy glue..

 

has anybody else noticed that if you misspell a word, that it gets underlined ?  BUT it does not give you the correct spelling ?  Unless I am missing something..  which is very possible..
