Ok Bigfam4me,

I'll come to your rescue, but you owe me !!! LOL

Anyway, Fleet Farm has the cheapest pine chips, Get it by the livestock, horse department. They have two kinds. One is 4.89 the other is 5.29 I believe or close to it.

If you buy it by the hamster/gerbil etc, or even at Walmart you will pay tons more.

You can put deer netting over the coop but I have to warn you it tears real easy. It will help deter but keep an eye on it.

I noticed on the package it has a warranty on it. I wish I would have kept my reciept.

If you want good netting you will have to order it from like Culter Pheasant supply and it ain't cheap.

Just in taking a break. Sweating my buns off. Not like that would be a bad thing.

I don't like it when it gets so hot so quick.

Later

ps Tiki that back problem must be catching, I didn't do much physically yesterday but being damp outside on damp ground, I could hardly move last night, well, you know you could hear it in my voice on the phone !! LOL

Where can I get a bunch of pine chips/litter? Does Menards carry that?

Where could I get some netting to put over the run? Menards? Farm and Fleet? What's it even called?

Hubby is going to Menards or Farm and Fleet in Baraboo TODAY. He is working on the coop and trying to get it good enough for big girls (and boy) to move in.

Btw... I have asked these questions before with no response... Hence the attention grabbing tone... tongue.png

Here Fleet & Farm has wood shavings in tightly packed bags..  I D K about Farm & Fleet..  I like to line my nests with wood shavings..  but I don't always keep up with it..

Yesterday our egg production took a large jump..  It looks like it will be worth it to start feeding the mutt hens laying formula..

Annie caught a guinea in a nest yesterday, so maybe they will start laying soon..

I am going to make a swing around the property this afternoon to see if I can find a stray nest ..(guinea or goose)..

DrH, do whatever you do to FT,  do not bust CC's chops..

I spread two buckets of chips around the back yard to stifle the mud..  the chickens are doing the final raking..

I worked on the Blazer a bit.. I cannot find anything wrong..  I did add a half can of Seafoam anyhow,,  what can it hurt ?  I topped off the antifreeze , too..  didn't need but a pint..

tested the alternator,, that was OK.. I sometimes wish something would just break, and then I would know what the problem was..  Oil and tranny oil are both up to the mark..

I think it is maybe a fuel filter, or fuel pump or dirty injectors..  anybody got a guess?

when it was running bad, it sounded like water in the gas..

check and see if either have "deer" fence, the heavy duty UV resistant 1"X1" kind,,,it lasts for years and would work well over the top. go with the local mills for the chips,,,and if you can get hardwood chips/shavings much easier to compost for the gardens

bbl on the run here

yeah, filter is what I am hoping..  I had a 6 cyl ford pickup that it happened to .. I was 25 miles from home..  I fixed t with a philips screwdriver..  poked the guts out of the inline filter and ran it like that for four years thereafter..

wee.gif first egg today!!! I'll junk this one but any others I find I will set aside for hatching.

Ducks were getting a good run in the pool today. It is a little tight though with 8 of them in there. Just came home from getting our fishing licenses for the year and found a painted turtle on the road! Rescued the little buggar of course. Took the oldest DD out driving today for the first time behind the wheel fl.gif . She did pretty well, and mom made it too. I did not need to have s good stiff drink when we came back home wink.png.

Going to try and possibly get some fishing in tonight before I go out and do my walk/run. I hear the suckers are running......

Afternoon Early Evening All!!

I've had a busy day today and I'm not quite done!

Got up early and went to the Beaver Dam Poultry Swap.  I actually found what I was looking for-sort of!  I was looking to add to my meat rabbit heard and found a breeder with Californians and she also had one Silver Fox buck.  I took the Silver Fox and also got another Cali. doe.  She is not quite as nice as Cali but she has good bone and a good look for a meat rabbit.  She is not show quality but I don't mind.  The Silver Fox was actually the meat breed I originally wanted to get but they are not common.  I will take some pics for y'all!  So far the Californian I've named Poppy (as in the California Poppy flower) and the Silver Fox has a ear tattoo of KB11 so I decided to name him Kirby.

I also got two little chicks-like I need any moreroll.png!  I ended up having to hold back one Ameruacana pullet from the seminar group since she had really bad pasty butt.  She is all cleaned up and is friends with the meaties.  The meaties will eventually be table birds so I had to plan ahead so the little Ameruacana has friends her age.  I got a Buff Orp and a Barred Rock.  Straight run of cource so they will be roosters.  Ah well...it's all good....

I got the cart we bought all put together almost all by myself!  I was so proud of my self!  Now cleaning the coop will be easier.

FT-Um I have to ask DH about the Wausau seminar/s.  He has some that are back to back and due to distance, I'm not going.  I will find out for you.

H&R-SG has just the one chickie.  Nothing else has been happening.  She is an excellent mom and the little chick is very much loved.

Ok, Dh wants me to help with the grill.  Grilling up some steaks tonight!  Yum!

I also want to check on the new bunnies.....

Chat soon!
