Wisconsin "Cheeseheads" - Page 1893

Just came in for a spot of lunch....some of today's eggs scrambled with cheesecurds, fresh green onions and a tomato--MMMMM.  A glass of grapefruit juice on the side...While I was grabbing the onions I noticed my asparagus patch...ep.gifAnybody ever remember eating garden asparagus in MARCH???  Yup--I am making some tonight!  I gave the propane guy a 5 qt bucket of eggs.  I have 4 or 5 of them sitting on the counter right now!  I have to start eating more eggs again!  Maybe that is what we will have tonight along with the asparagus.  Well, it's raining now...again.  I have a few errands to run and then I might just have to clean...he.gif

I decided to give Tommy a girlfriend today while he is in the tortoise garden since the chicks are staying in because of the chill and the rain.  Take a look!

I think he likes her!  I thought she would fly right out of there but I guess one little roo is the lesser of two evils...she is in with the laying flock normally with 5 BIG roosters!  LOL!

I just talked to MLH about one of my Ameraucanas that wont walk...I had no idea that she was having such a bad day! hugs.gif To you MLH!  You should have told me on the phone...:(

Lunch is done...guess I better get to those errands or absolutely NOTHING will get done around here again today...

Later!  Terri O

Oh what a fine looking pair they make !!!

So, question for ya. Do you wash your eggs ? Just wondering because you keep them in pails not regridgerated.

How old are they before you won't sell or give them to people?

I know, that is so sad about the bunnies. MLH hugs.gif

FT... If you go to Cottonville or Adams Friendship... I could meet you in the Dells. Then it's only about 30 min from Adams, or 40 min from Cotton. You wouldn't have to make it down to me completely. Otherwise I'm an 1 hr 10 mi from Adams friendship.
I'm looking for a local meeting for PHA (Pervy Humor Anonymous) and PFAA (Poultry and Fowl Addicts Anonymous). PM me with any meeting info...

I keep them there on the counter for a bit, like sometimes 3 or 4 days...they eventually get into the refrigerator....I dont normally wash them; but with the weather wet they can get pretty nasty.  I usually just eat the messy ones and wash them right before I crack them if they're really bad!  I figure with the "egg bloom" intact the eggs are meant to sit around in the nest for sometimes up to 2 weeks and they are still able to develop a baby...so how bad can they be?  I read somewhere that they NEVER refrigerate eggs in Europe!  I have found out though if you want soft boiled eggs you must start with cold eggs when cooking for 3 mins!  Also cold eggs work much better for poaching!

OK--enough procrastinating...I need to move NOW!

Terri, I am SO relieved you found your "drinking buddy" Tommy. Whoever said that, I was lau.gif.  So, you want a couple roos to add to your collection?  big_smile.png  And why on earth would you let some dicks nest in your yard? Aren't there enough of them around already?  lau.gif

Cind, congrats on getting the tree down. And here I thought I was the one that procrastinated the longest. I did get mine down before my birthday.  tongue.png

Jim, you old Grinch. Won't let the kids open their presents.............

FT, don't tell my DH about that goat. Poor little guy, I hope he finds a home. Sounds adorable. No, no, NO..................... maybe........ no.......

The zoo is between Lakewood & Townsend on 32. Sounds like a good time. Wish I could go.  sad.png

DrH, I so enjoy your stories about you & PeaTwo. What a good boy! I agree way too much waste in this world. We've become a disposable society. Sickening for sure. Although we could stand to throw out a few things around here.  lau.gif

Hi Polla! Nice to see you back!

Bf4, sorry about the maran. But at least there was only one. That is great! Consider yourself lucky, Miss Pottymouth.  tongue.png

Apyl, congrats on the new bator! What kind did you get, if I may be so nosy?

Tiki, did I read that right? You ordered DANDELION seeds???? Well sweetie, why didn't ya say something? I could have mailed you a truckload full last fall!  gig.gif

Whoo-hoo! I missed the list again! Whew!

Awww, thanks. That's sweet of you all. I love getting new recipes so whenever anyone posts one, I try to copy & paste it in a folder just for recipes. I also try to remember who posted it, but I'm not always that bright.  roll.png  Happy to be of assistance. Oh, and speaking of assistance, I know quite a few of you were having back pain and wanted to share a tidbit. My mom has me order her Boswellia capsules online that she takes for her back pain. She used to complain about her back all the time and you could tell just by looking at her that she was in pain. Well, she's been taking it for a few months and says it really works wonders. I guess an aunt, an uncle & one of my cousins take it also and swear by it. I was still kinda skeptical so I looked it up and didn't find any reports of side effects, but I really didn't look too hard. She was razzing me to reorder them for her.  roll.png  I figure taking one of them a day can't be as bad as multiple pain relievers, right? So if anyone is interested in giving them a try, here is the link.

It was a beautiful mostly sunny day down here until almost 5, so I got a bunch of stuff done outside today. Still trying to get the carport cleaned out. It is not a one person job.  th.gif  Had the young ones running amuk with the old hens for a good part of the day. Good thing they're fast. They were loving the good life for sure. Went around picking up branches & noticed the cherry trees & bushes are all flowering. Buds are starting to break on the peaches, nectarine (1st time!), plums & pears. And my honeyberry has flowers on it! Looks like a deer found 2 of my new elderberry seedlings.  somad.gif  But they usually grow like weeds, so I'm sure they will recover. I have a ton of raspberry canes to cut back tomorrow. Don't think I'll be getting a bumper crop like I did last year, but that's ok. Don't think I'll be missing them. Sounds like we're getting a good steady rain right now. I'm sure everything will be greener tomorrow. Just hoping we don't get a killing frost or I will be super POed.

Ok, I am posting this NOW before I start pulling a Bf4 & start cursing all over creation & getting us banned. Sweet dreams, all!

DD is 12 now and is proud when she can look at our chicks and tell who is who.  She also points out to me that she told me that Gadget our white peacock was a boy right from the get go.  lau.gif
