Wisconsin "Cheeseheads" - Page 1927

Hi ALL!

Welcome to the newbies!

Jim... Yep, got one of those separator things...almost as easy to use the shells. Yep, know about the cracking them into a separate dish too. And no matter how clean I think they are... I wash the equipment before I start... just to make sure. I've been making scratch angle food cakes since I was 10... guess that's well enough over 40 years ep.gifI almost got it down pat! wink.png LOL

Thanks for the thought on the price... It was a friend of the guy that was selling the guineas... I sold the little beat up guy for $15 if he was in better shape I would have asked more but he's going to need allot of good feed ('cause the others kept him away) to bulk up enough to do his job! The guy was getting him for his grandson for 4H so he should get spoiled rotten from now on! Tried to talk him into more roos but no go.

MLH.... I was thinking of powdered whites for the angle food cakes. They sell powdered whites where DH works and I have used them before I had chickens.

TO... looks like you got more blooming than me! pretty.

mazjoe... cool about the eggs.... I should make a copy!

mxm.... Tell you're DD she have her birthday when she feels better... that's what I did when my were sick on a "special" day.

CC... NO! I am not taking in animals! LOL I don't have the stamina for it anymore! However I think I passed that place today.

No eggs with blue streaks yet. fl.gif

As for those eggs, hey Bf4, wanna split a dozen? Since our bators are so small?  big_smile.png  I'll pop for it.

I did email them, haven't heard anything yet. I will have my bator open, and can borrow the egg turner from Kristi. I have to wait another few weeks to set any Jaerhon eggs, as I have a silkie rooster who is going one way or another.. dinner OR the humane society...And I had to chuck my half silkie roo into that pen as I had to move one of my serama roos in to my mixed bantam pen, he and my other serama roo decided to start fighting.

Anyway.. I can pick up a dozen and set them if anyone is interested. I am NOT interested in keeping any. I have my Marans, Jaerhons, bantams, and Seramas.. as well as the other assorted large breed hens I have.

Lavender (Self Blue) Orpington Hatching Eggs. Newer Color Orpington. My small flock came from a breeder in southern Illinios. These birds are originally from the Hink-JC blood line. The Lavender gene is different from the blue genetics in that it should produce consistant lavender color in all the offspring. The Lavender Orpington is a large docile bird that lay brown eggs.
The pictures are some of my birds with other breeds I have. They have been penned seperately for the last month to ensure no cross breeding with the Lavender Orpingtons. Buyers will receive a copy of my Wisconsin Tested Flock Certificate. Chicks may be available, eggs in incubator now! Orpingtons Hatching Eggs are $15.00 per dozen.

Americana eggs available. Mixed hens with Blue Americana rooster $10.00 per dozen.
Blue Copper Marans hatching eggs in near future. Contact for more info.

Eggs are pick up only. I will not mail eggs.

Thanks for the offer CC, WCC and TO. I appreciate it. So WCC you don't want to be in our LLLOWC, think I got that right !!! LOL

You guys are the bestest !!! Now who do I sound like ? LOL

I've got a secret, I've got a secret  !!!!! Ok well, CC and Bf4m know, boy do they know !!!! I'll spill the beans next week. I have to get past April Fools day first !!!! gig.gif

Spent some time outside sitting in the pig pen with Porky, Elmer and Wiggy (little girl who I still don't have a name for) LOL

Those little piggys are so GD cute !!!

Then I went and spent time with my new geese. We put my old garden pond in their run. It is only 75 gallons but boy oh boy does one of my original geese love it.

We have a 300 gallon stock take that we bought for the ducks but they never used it. To tall for them to get into it. I emptied it last weekend, now just need to figure out where I want to put it. Then sink it into the ground.

I've been lurking on the egg chain site. Good way to pick up different type of eggs. I promised a friend down in TN some silkie eggs and mine are broody so I got her some on the egg chain. I set out 16 guinea eggs yesterday and 10 paint silkie eggs.

Sending out 9 more guinea eggs tomorrow.

Wish I was closer to Neilsville. I was going to go to the Stratford Auction on Saturday. My farrier is going. I called him tonight to see if he ever called the guy that runs the auction that had some spotted mini donkeys for sale. He is down to one spotted jenny. The farrier said he was going to talk to the seller on Saturday. I think Saturday will be to late.

Hope he connects with him.

Otherwise I was just going to be nosey. I don't need anything.

Bf4m here is the Egg Chain thread I was telling you about !! http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/326027/online-crazy-egg-chain-lets-play-this-has-been-ok-by-nifty-chicken/6010

CC,

I just emailed him, he responded to me, I put in an order for a dozen or so eggs for hatching. I will tell him to that he should expect one from you too! If I or TO can get them, do you want to meet? Let me know, he only has about "3-6 hens"... so is it 3 or 6 ... LOL I kinda wonder.

I found the answer to the garlic question in a good book by Barbara Damrosch. The name of the book is The Garden Primer. 1988 pg 260..'"....It is planted in early spring in the north, fall or winter elsewhere.......sometimes garlic is overwintered in the north....'"

Yeay It is raining. We need it!!!! Sounds like a good soaker too.
