Wisconsin "Cheeseheads" - Page 1930

Amy,  I do have auto turners..My incubators are the cabinet style GQF sportsmans..  I have rigid plastic egg holders that fit on the shelves ..  and then the whole shelf rocks left to right..

I figured out a way that I can stack the holders with a little modification to the top holder..  with average sized chicken eggs, I can raise the capacity from 288 eggs to  576 eggs..

this comes in really handy when the guineas start laying ..  I usually hatch about 300 of them each year..

I have two of these incubators that I can stack trays in..  the third one can handle only single layers of trays..  I use it mostly as a hatcher..

In the past, when I was using styrofoam bators with turners,  I occasionally laid a few extra eggs on top of the ones in the turner..  they hatched OK, too..

.............jiminwisc..........

FT.  not a good idea to bury that deep tank..   the geese will splash a lot of water out and then they or the ducks will not be able to climb out..  or a horse could fall in.. or a pig..  or you..  just saying..

Bury it but leave a foot  above ground. surround it with rock and place rock on inside to make a ladder out of it..... my friends did this and added like a garden around it .  was pleasant to sit at in the afternoon with drink

That's what I kind of had in mind. I wasn't going to bury the whole thing. I did what you suggested years ago with my 75 gallon pond and made a rock garden around it. It was very soothing to sit by and watch. The person that bought the house pulled it out smack.gifA neighbor found out and told me that the new owners would give it back to me.

They kept the smaller pond that I had built up above and had a water fall from.

Just need to decide where it will go. Not an easy task but I do have enough rocks around here !!! Today we have snow !!!

Jim, I have heard you speak of stacking eggs in your bators. Do you have auto turners? How do you make that work, don't the eggs spill all over the place? I am getting too many Jaer eggs that are pullet-sized, but every other day I get a nice big egg from the older girl; 3 weeks is too long to hold those eggs before the bator has some space. Listen to me, spoken like a true addict.

Ok.  I must have done something wrong.  I was trying to link using my ipod last might.  tongue.png  Anyway, try this.  LOL  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_sG7O1_B60&feature=share

WOW WEE thems some beautiful coops! I see what appears to be a can of Red Bull on the 4 wheeler hmmm. Go Go DH! Did that type of renovation to an old shed that was here, lotsa hours and $ for the silly chickens but their worth it. love.gif Better than a dang cat! Bob has decided that my pillow is now his too. EVERYTHING IS HIS! Woke up at 3 something with him purring on top of my head. somad.gif 12 lbs of purr. Try and move that much dead weight! Claws stickin. EL cuttin back on the grn bean planting this year, gave a ton away and we still have a lot in the freezer. I plant pole beans on a hog wire trellis about 15 ft long gonna plant half beans and half dill on it this year. Will weave the dill into it to keep it upright in a wind storm. It was a good year for cuc's, tomatoes came late and peppers didn't do very well but got enough for freezing/cooking. Had around 40 jars of various pickles. Relish, sweet pickles, dills, and mustard pickles. Love em all! Need more jars! The one remaining jar of dills is going to Ks end of next week for the oldest DD's white coat ceremony. When she was here last fri her and her sister opened a jar of warm dills sitting on the shelf after polishing off one from the fridge. Gave me a chuckle! Just got back from hauling in the alum cans and the copper from the plumbing renovation $114, filled the tank at $3.84/gal think I timed it right this time. Very unusual. AND money left over for....... you guessed it beer!
