Hi All!!

Long time no post! LOL!!  I missed at least 4 days so I'm not playing catch up! LOL!! Hope everyone has a nice Easter! Mine was quite.

No much to report here, I've just been busy and have no idea where the time has gone!  I've been getting all the odds and ends chore wise done so that might be where the time is going!

The Girls as all great but I think I have a broody RO-again! I'll but her in the wire cage tomorrow and see if I can get her to break her brood.

Buzzy is well as are Ben and Company.  I think Ben and the Ben Minions are all roosters.

The Rabbits are good as well.  Processing day is around the corner for some...

Other then that I missed you all....

Ok DH's Pod Cast went well and we had a lot of fun.  The Irish Pub were the pod cast was, was terrific even though it was on the Capitol Square in Madison.

Well, just wanted to stop by and say Hi and all.....gotta go let the dogs out or in or something...they are barking....

My mother has a rabbit collecting problem. She's got a lop, a French angora, an English angora, and now she's getting 2 German Angoras.

Good evening everyone!  Yes we missed you too MLH!  GLad the podcast went well.

Cind--congrats on the new babies!  You must get a pic as soon as you can!  Turk's "baby" continues to father chicks...the one in the rafters finally brought her one remaining chick down...it was a turken!  Yeah, but now I think it is dead...or will be...she went back to the rafters to roost!  I couldnt find the baby anywhere. smack.gifDumb chicken!  First she lets them all jump down by themselves and then cant even take care of ONE!  I will give her one more chance and if she does it with her second batch she will be sold to the people that always want hens to eat!   I sure hopw your Storkey is a better Mama! Speaking of that Turk...he got in with the hens I was making pure!  He thought he was all that for sure!  I chased him out of there AGAIN today!  I guess there must be some way he gets in that I am not seeing!  Sneaky bugger!

I was doing chores tonight and I came upon a nest with about 30 chicken eggs in it!  It is in an old dog house in the way back...I guess whoever is laying in there isnt planning on going broody!  Wish I knew what hen/s are laying in there.  I guess I ought to clean it out tomorrow.  No extra broodies around either....maybe those eggs would make some pretty good laying hens that dont go broody?  No idea....

SO this Golden M thing...when I use it I put it way up in the loft where only the racoons can get at it.  I have never found another animal near there...except for the expired racoons.  Do you think that other animals would actually eat the stuff?  Has anyone had experience with it killing anything else?

Bigfam--I hope this little bump in the road isnt going to dissuade you from having poultry!  Are you the only person in the area with chickens?

Congrats on the turkey Bigz!  Good job.  Were you gun hunting or bow hunting (DH wants to know) So does a person clean and eat a wild turkey just like a Thanksgiving turkey? (I want to know that)

Guess the spaghetti is done.  I am having mine with rice.  Didnt feel like getting another pot dirty to make GF pasta this time!  LOL--enjoy your evening everyone!

What I really do not like about using DI water vs goat milk is the set-up time..... goat milk gets harder faster than the DI water...

Anyway, pics... the snowflakes are still too soft to come out.

The 'Ricola' soap before cutting. I will cut it tomorrow.

And see? It works! big_smile.png

TO, I found a GF choc cake recipe on allrecipes.com that uses garbonzo beans! I am going to make it for this weekend so I will let you know how it is.

Bigfam, good luck getting your coon..... and I think I'll make some 'special' soap just for your mouth! wink.png

Good job on the turkey hunt BigZ.

EL, I feel your pain with the no air. The day I have my youngest DD it was 115* outside and we had no AC.

Time for vino!

Well you can bring soap for my mouth if you like... But really I will be on decent behavior because of the kids! But they tell me all the time I swear too much. All I'm saying is sh!t, @ss, dumb@ss, goddamit, son of a b itch.... Nothing TOO horrible big_smile.png (the f bomb is my favorite but I can't use that in front of the kids).

I moved the three 6 wk olds into the big coop. They dont know WHAT to think! I will move the chicks tomorrow. With the sick one, and the temps getting so low, I thought I'd wit one more night. I will have the lamp in the brooder still, but the move will cause some stress I'm sure.

TO... My brother in laws wife has chickens next door. 3 hens and 1 Roo. She's had them for a year and not lost any! She got so p!ssy about me getting chickens. She was livid actually. Apparently she thinks I'm soo crappy a pet care giver. Right about now... I'm not gonna let her know what happened!

I took pictures today of the coop. But my keyboard is out of batteries, so unless I can steal them out of something else... You have wait until tomorrow for THE pictures.

Hi All!

Congrats on the turkey BigZ!!!!

Vicki... I had a dust box in my coop. Last winter they used it. This winter they didn't. hu.gif

Bf4m.... how's the chick? Hope it made it!

TO...Can you throw some cardboard or something over those rafters so the hens quit hatching up there? Seems like they've all died that hatched up there.

Blf... nice looking soaps!

I think we'll be done making coops for a while after this one smile.png

Awesome raimnel!  What satisfaction you'll have when it's done!

Hens& Roos, Oh I envy you your pie.  I looooove a good fruit pie.

YAY BigFam on your coop!  And how perfectly awful about your chickies... sooo flipping sorry.  I'm constantly trying to understand what measures I need to take with my new construction, so thanks for planning on posting the pic.  That's what I'm most worried about.  Something getting at my future chickens.  Your bro-in-law's wife sounds like a real peach tongue.gif Sorry you have to live next door to that.

Amybel is finding asphalt underground.  The things we dig up on our old property are amazing.  They buried EVERYTHING!  But isn't that kind of de rigueur in the county???  Whenever we dig up a kid's shoe it's especially creepy...

Sorry to hear about Lucy, Cindlady.

Dr H That was me asking about the window!  Thanks so much!  Sorry to hear about your bird too.

TerriO, it's the one nestled in the woods on a hill.  The big red barn is far more visible than the house from 89.  Noone else is on our side of the road.  Sound like the one you've been digging on???  That would really floor me if it is!  Now I'm thinking of all the other homes along 89 that you could be mistaking ours for....   Jordan Rd is our road.  I will so love to have you here!  Call me when yo want to come!  When I take delivery of my chickens we can get an up close and very personal look at the chicken butts over here too!  lau.gif   -she was showing me what a chicken butt without mites looks like.... since I'm clueless and now I'll know if something is amiss.  I came away from Terri's with a new mad skill!

Chloe was disappointed she wasn't joining us at your home to look at chicken butts.  We'll figure something out.  I was at the Pig today!  Were you the car I sideswiped in the parking lot? KIDDING!!!

Hi Vicki!  I'm too much of a newb myself to help, but nice to see you again!

BabyLady yr soap looks fabby!  Your house must smell enchanting!  Tomorrow morning a girlfriend is coming over and we're going to try water marbling our nails!  (Hence the husband is fleeing, FLEEING, his home office tomorrow morning lol.png)

The marbled nail results will surely be posted on the blog unless we fall flat on our faces in completed failure.  heck then we still might post 'em for comic effect...

Nuh Nights!

First:Take its temperature!   It should be between 103 and 106  closer to 106. It cannot process any food unless it is warm enough.  If it is cold put a bag of rice in the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes till warm, put a towel over the bag of rice and warm the chick. You will have to keep the chick in hand and also the bag of rice and monitor.    Second:How are the poops?  Keep it in the house and monitor until better.

One of my new chicks has been crying a lot and hasn't grown much since hatch. I noticed this morning that it's blind! Great! I dont have the heart to cut its head off, but it's sad to think of it dying of dehydration or starvation.
